If so for how long do you quarantine?

High heat in the clothes dryer for a couple hours?

Spritz with diluted bleach?

Chant ancient incantations?

Nope.

It's funny folks freak out and do all kinds of shit, when normal daily practice of good hand hygiene is the number one way of minimizing your chance of catching infectious diseases.

No.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Nothing gets to my remote address that quick, sometimes not even Next Day air.

If you're really concerned, wash your hands after opening it and disposing of the envelopes. And avoid the toilet licking craze.

My wife tends to handle all the incoming snail mail. So I fetch it out of the mailbox, drop it on a table, and tell her "Some contaminated paper for you" Smile

We're a little more careful with snail mail and packages than we typically are, but, no: We don't quarantine it, give it a heat treatment, spray it with disinfectant, wear a hazmat suit when opening it, etc.

I have read that it is 3 days.

The information is coming so fast and is so conflicting, there is no way to be certain what is correct.

I think it's 72 hours on steel and plastic surfaces.

Well, it's only educated guesses at this point.

Airborne: 3 hours
Copper: 4 hours
Paper and cardboard: 24 hours
Steel and plastic: 72 hours

An earlier study postulated longevity at 9 days, but this was based on extrapolation of previous coronaviruses (SARS & MERS).

I've also read 3 days. We wipe down perishables and put the other groceries aside for 5 days.

We've been doing this since the beginning of the month. I'm in the Redmond Wa. area pretty much the epicenter.
