I just heard a discussion about this, a good question was raised. How come so many Brit popular music is sung with American accents? I'm sure most know this song more from Stangelove than it's meaning to WWll Britain.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

TMK Miss Lynn, whom I met many years ago when she was only in her seventies, sings with a delightfully English accent.

Beautiful voice, sung from the heart. A sad optimism from a time of hardship for so many.
LS1 - ‘Floyd put me on to her music from that particular song.

First thing I thought... Dr. Strangelove.

Yep, me too. Never even knew that was a reference to a real person and have listened to those lyrics a million times.

That may be my very favorite lyric song from WW2 era....along with a couple French pieces whose names I don't recall.

It’s hard to find a song so befitting an era. She nailed it! God bless you Vera Lynn!

accents generally do not come thru when a song is sung,
as a high school/college age in the early 80's, first thing I thought of was lyrics from a Gary Numan song,
Old men love war songs Love Vera Lynn Old men love war songs Now I'm Vera Lynn
