Why can’t it just be "Standard Time"?

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I don't understand how it can bother people when the sun comes up or sets. When I go to work at 2am it's always dark out. When I get off work at 10:30am it's always light out. It never changes. Bunch of whiners, I tell ya.

Agree. What was wrong with standard time before the advent of DST?

Again?

Just pick a fucking time and stick with it. It's not 1798 anymore. Twice a year car accidents and heart attacks spike, right at the time change. If nothing else, end it to end that.

Same here in Louisville, KY for sunrise in January. If the western boundary of Eastern Zone could be moved further east (east of I-75), and the Indiana-Ohio border then become that boundary (like between Georgia and Alabama), and move Cincinnati into Central Zone, that would help greatly.

I’d love to see it come to pass. AZ is stuck in the past. Our kids live in MT and UT and the time difference can ce a PIA in the summer.

It makes a big difference to me having that extra hour of useful light in the evening.

I work 12s. I'm up at 4:30, run before work in the dark, at work before 6am and off at 6pm. It's always dark when I go in, although in the summer the sky is just starting to light up. I could care less about it being dark while I'm at work...I'm paid by the hour either way.

It's the evening after I get off that matters. As soon as DST ends in Nov it's dark before I get home. That means I can't accomplish anything on my work days outside. Even walking the dog has to be done with a flashlight in the dark. It's a pain. Even one extra hour would at least let me get the dog walk in before it's pitch black out for most of the winter.

Conversely, in the summer, DST gives me 3.5 to almost 4 hours of useable light after I get off in the evening. That's enough time to mow and take he dog on a 3 mile walk, or take my son fishing, or even go shooting before the range closes at sunset.

Morning light is pointless. Evening light is productive.

Good grief...opinions here are all over the place. I suspect our general populace is similar.

I'm retired and up around 5 a.m. every morning and I want the morning light.

Evening light is pointless. Morning light is productive. Smile

For anyone who works a 9-5, DST is amazing. Definitely a strong preference for evening light.

All I know is we're never gonna do DST again in Arizona, and I'm fine with that. You guys in the northern states can do what you want that works for you, but nobody here wants 110 degrees and sunset at almost 9:00 at night in the dead of summer. That's high on the list of "shit that ain't happening."

One more vote for DST year round. The light in the evening is more useful than light in the morning.
