Last weekend marked the 'return' of 2020 NHRA drag racing. It's usually the biggest anticipated race of the year for the points championship. Every hard core drag racer wants to race and win at Indianapolis.

Qualifying was kind of boring initially with ETs and speeds lower than the last race in March (?), but that picked up. It was sad to see...and try to understand what the racers were saying with masks on, let alone recognize who they were. One Pro Stock motorcycle racer referred to his as a 'muzzle' which prompted idiot booth commentator pedregon to admonish the racer's opinion.

There's usually thousands of spectators in the stands, this year one side of the stands were completely empty. The other side had very few spectators and they were spread out which made it look worse.

None of the John Force Racing team appeared. There's lots of speculation but no comment from JFR yet. My opinion is John Force races for the fans and he recognized the NHRA restrictions would limit spectators in the stands.

Gotta wonder if tv viewing was down. I fast forwarded through much of the TF racing, but watched the PS cars and bikes. The racers said they were happy to be back racing, but they seemed to lack past enthusiasm.

Also gotta wonder how long NHRA can go on without the popular big name racers drawing the paying crowds, NHRA vendor sales and sponsors.

I used to be a casual watcher. But that 1/8 mile race just doesn't do anything for me. Quit watching all together after that.

I watched the drag race yesterday, and was totally turned off by it. I couldn't understand what anyone was saying, and there was just no excitement in the whole thing. I love watching the whole John Force team, and them being absent, along with many others, was a total turnoff!! I can't believe that NHRA is going to have a big TV audience unless things change.

Agree! Taped the race and just got finished watching; not very exciting. Quit watching NASCAR because of their SJW bull. I sure hope Force returns this year!

I agree that then having on mask at the after race interview was completely useless.
Media is really trying to make it cool to wear a mask.
Seems to me this is nothing more.

I have tickets for the Gatornationals in Gainesville, FL. The race was cancelled due to Covid, then rescheduled for September. I’m looking forward to it!

Agreed.
I watched, but lost interest after about 45 minutes due to the very things you listed (especially the masks and how difficult it was to even make out what people were saying).
