Being in control is an illusion. We truly have no control over things. Time runs us all.
The best way to get out of your funk is to keep your feet moving: do something. Anything. Just a small effort aimed toward your friends and family will go a long way.
Be there. Listen.
I will say a prayer for you today, as will many others here on Sig Forum.

My sympathies. Perhaps just a simple gathering to remember would help, even if everyone just meets for something as simple as breakfast at Cracker Barrel, etc.

Don't beat yourself up. My mom died this past Sept and my brother and sister had not spoken to her in almost 20 years. They are suffering now. At least you had a relationship with your (friends) mom before she passed.

Also, no need to have a funeral right away. I had my mom created. We are going to spread her ashes around (not in) a lake this coming Feb.

When I'm not feeling great, helping someone else is usually just the thing.

Be there for your friend, and I am sure you will.

As others said, try to stop second guessing your decision. It only makes you more miserable. Been there, it sucks. Just be there for your friend.

Prayers and heart-felt condolences offered for you and your family/friends. Sometimes just giving someone the comfort of knowing you are thinking about them and those close to them, wishing them well, and are there for them is more comfort than we realize, regardless of being able to do a physical visitation. You have nothing to feel guilty about. Just continue to be there for them and do what it sounds like you've always done.

ARman, I completely understand where you’re coming from. I’m not typically known for putting my business out there for everyone to see, but when it feels like the world is crashing down around you, you reach out to anyone who will lend an ear. I’m sorry for your (partially indirect) loss and hope that you find a way to be there for your friend. I’m sure that she will appreciate any support you can give her. Just do your best and be there for her. You guys are in my thoughts.
