wow.

The red beret point, over El Presidente's left shoulder, had his eyes all over; and in the sky.

Noticed the same thing. Looked like he may be anticipating, or just ever aware of surroundings?

It wouldn't be the first time a dictator set up a failed assassination attempt on himself or his family in order to galvanize the nation and take its attention from the current ailings and also to cement more power for himself.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Also wouldn’t be the first time a dictator’s own men tried to kill him with explosives and failed. I referenced it earlier, but the guy behind him gives me a bit of a Von Stauffenberg vibe. Eyes up, lots of deep sighs.

Flying the damn thing directly to him for detonation would have had a better chance for success. That, or drop a gravity device set to explode on impact from high enough where it couldn’t be heard.

Try, try again...

Yeah it's a shame they didn't. A failed coup attempt makes it harder next time. But maduro should sleep with one eye open.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Right on cue, he's blaming "right-wing" or "'far-right' groups" (i.e., anyone opposing him) for it. No doubt a new (or renewed) crackdown on them is coming next.

In fairness to him, it usually IS the groups that are opposing you that go for the assassination attempts.
