Open house at the speeder club was this past Saturday and it was a huge success. There were over 300 members of the public that came out for free rides on the various cars. Here are a few photos:

I was also incredibly lucky that the club president took my car for a week and re-did the carb and the timing and now it's running near perfect and cranks on the first turn.

This reminds me that I have a bunch of pictures from the last run of the year that I still need to edit.

The last run of the year went from Concord NH to Lincoln NH. A decent run which I believe was 100+ miles. My car ran great until about halfway through the first day and then started to greatly lose power. I wound up having to be towed about the last 1/4 of the trip.

I almost said F it and went home, but some of the guys dragged the car off at the end and we checked the fuel tank. I hadn't had a chance to get up to NH to get ethanol free gas (Thanks MA), so I went with high octane E10, and we're pretty sure it stirred up all the sludge/rust in the tank and clogged up the fuel lines.

Once the lines were clear and a new fuel bowl and screens were installed it ran great the rest of the trip.

For upcoming projects, I still need to mount the air bell to the front of the car (Scott if you're reading this, I'm sorry I haven't forgotten about you. Life has just been crazy the last 6 months or so with some big life changes). Also some of the OSB is starting to rot, so I need to decide if I want to spend the money to replace it with aluminum, or just re-do the OSB/plywood. I'd also like to fix the paint on the front, and I need to build a switch panel so I don't have switches in random spots.

I haven't read all the comments, I just wanted to let the OP know I have had a huge smile on my face looking at his photos and thinking about how he now has a bunch of good-old-boy lifelong friends to do something with that is JUST PLAIN FUN!!

It's much like my co-grandpa, who, although not a pilot himself, hangs out at a hangar at Gillespie field. His buddies there have been great fun to be around. Some own old Bücker biplanes and I've gotten rides in them.

Every guy should belong to some group that does something socially together. Doesn't matter what it is, but it should be a "guy" thing. Quilting wouldn't work, woodworking does.

My co-grandpa sadly is in hospice with terminal bladder cancer now. He's been a great friend and I shall miss him terribly.

I'm really glad you got enjoyment out of it! If you'd like to see more, here are the albums with all of the photos in them.

In reference to your co-grandpa, I'm definitely jealous being a plane and airport nerd as well. Maybe I need to befriend folks that have planes. Sounds like he made many great memories which I'm sure you will cherish. It's never easy, trust me. I wish I had some better words at the moment but hold those memories close and cherish the remaining time. And if you need anything, you know I'm here.

A Laz-E-Boy and a beer fridge would be spiffy. Any law against it?

Alcohol use while operating would be an issue. But the bigger issue is space.
