Yah, one of my favorite movies, ya know.
Oh, and I can see LivePD and Sgt. Levrette pulling someone over.
Sgt. L: "Do you know why i stopped you?"
Driver: "Uh, No..."
Sgt. L: "You don't have Vanity plates!"
Driver: "Huh?..."
Sgt L: "Yeah, No vanity plates, figure your trying to be inconspicuous, you got something to hide?"
Driver: "Uh, what? NO!"
Sgt L.: "You seem real uncomfortable and confused, I think you might be on something, exit the vehicle, and do you mind if I search?"
(just poking fun at the thread and Sgt. L's methods, no real cops were harmed in the episode...)

ensigmaticThe Fargo reference is cool, but I'm not a fan, so it would be meaningless to me. In fact: Have never seen the movie nor the series.

tacfoleyVanity plates? You need to live in UK, where people can pay tens of thousands of pounds to get a plate that has some relevance to them.
The ultimate 'look at me' thang. IMO.

zoom6zoom370H55V is a stealth one.
I also have a plate that looks like a random number and letter combo but screams right out to certain gun guys.

They're only $30/year, here in Michigan. And, even with that, I'm debating whether it's worth it just to have an easy-to-remember tag.

I'm in this boat. Not a fan of vanity plates.

Worst example I saw was a neighbor who had "BMW M5". Of course he replaced that with new car and "GT3". Really? Cock much???
Those get me too. Like you have to pay extra for something that your car already sports from the factory??
One of my past times in stop and go traffic is figuring out vanity plates. I pooh pooh the obvious like "Bob's BMW." The only one I remember is one I kept seeing around the neighborhood was pretty clever: LQQK AGN
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." SuppressedGet this on your plate: VWWVVWV. Or whatever combination you want. It will be too hard to read when you go flying by.

ensigmaticYou gave me an idea, Suppressed: My nickname in hexadecimal

. Heck, I can even properly capitalize it.
(How did I get to hex-encoded-ASCII from "VWWVVWV?" Well, that sequence made me think of a binary sequence, but couldn't think of anything interesting, then thought "Hex?")
What's cool about it it's I'm a computer geek, and only other computer geeks would get it. Probably only old school computer geeks like me, in fact

Personally, I just can't see giving the State extra money for something like that.
My father did the same. My concern was that we have a fairly unique last name. Back in the 1990s you could find where he lived by just opening a phone book.

bald1Been running these for years without problems. Matter of fact they garner a lot of smiles and quite a few gals have come up to me when I park the sled to comment. Never a bad word.
