I'm thinking of getting a personalized tag for my new-to-me Jeep. One of the possibilities I've entertained is one that includes my nickname. (Shortened form of my given name.)
But it occurs to me that's giving out information random people should not have. Or leaving me open to somebody with ill intent walking up and saying "Hi Bob," as a way to temporarily confuse/disarm me.
Am I being paranoid?
"America is at that awkward stage. It's too late to work within the system,,,, but too early to shoot the bastards." -- Claire Wolfe "If we let things terrify us, life will not be worth living." -- Seneca the Younger, Roman Stoic philosopher
I voted "not a serious threat", that said I do think it's a bit of a "look at me" statement when men have their name/nickname on a license plate. Less so for women, yet still don't like it altogether. I tend to shy towards the specialty plates with a normal alphanumeric combo on them, some cause that I support or believe in.
Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view.
Complacency sucks…

I wouldn't, not on a daily driver, or other regular personal vehicle. It takes it from 1 in Many other Jeeps to That Jeep, at a glance. Unless that's what you want, the attention.
Nothing wrong with it, if standing out doesn't matter.

Spell Bob backwards. That way your name won't be readily apparent and will confuse them.
How many letters are allowed on your plate? Maybe a shortened form of your forum name, "ENSGMTC," or "NSGMTC?" I too don't see much reason to get overly personal with a personalized plate, as odd as that might sound.

Years ago I had a friend/co-worker, Tiffany. She had a vanity plate, TIFF. She liked to go country dancing, but her boyfriend did not. She got rid of the vanity plate when some dude was waiting for her by her car one night at a bar.
