I had a vasectomy on Friday afternoon. I came home and was pretty uncomfortable, but didn't have much in the way of pain - just discomfort. I lied down and fell asleep from 5pm to 8pm.

Yesterday I had some cramping in my lower abdomen, mostly on my left side. I was able to move around a bit, but again, mostly just stayed in bed.

Today I got up for breakfast and the cramping is definitely more prominent to the point of being painful instead of an achey, dull-type cramp.

I can't really complain though. While I figured recovery was going to be painful/slow going, this is definitely much different than, and not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

I'm pretty bored with the internet, movies, and video games, too. I plan to read more today.

Years ago when I had mine, I was working at a very large location of Bell Labs (Naperville IL). I stopped in at the onsite company Doc's office to request a temporary parking permit for the close-in handicap spaces for a few days, as walking was somewhere between really uncomfortable and moderately painful.

The Doc looked at me with disdain, told me that the day after his vasectomy he ran in a race.

My reply, "I have absolutely no interest in whether or not you are numb from the waist down. If I need to take time off for medical reasons, I get paid for it. The option here is whether the company wants to get productive work from me while they are paying me. The choice is yours."

He gave me a dirty look and a parking permit.

This is what is needed 1/2 hour on 1/2 hour off.
I found staying off my feet helped a bunch also. recliner may help. I found sitting in a regular chair painful.

Since I had mine in 1977, I have never looked at grapefruits as I used to, and lost my taste for them.

Yes ice on/ice off. I went thru 4 bags of after mine in February. Not really much pain just felt like this. I think I spent 30+ hours in my recliner that weekend.

It's not too bad of a recovery. I had mine on Friday and was back at work on a Monday. Hopefully the Dr. had you buy a jock strap. That really helped me by not allowing a lot of movement when you move around/walk.

You'll probably have quite a bit of bruising by tomorrow but should feel better pretty quickly.

A buddy of mine had a vasectomy a few years ago, and the day after surgery left on a trip to Colorado, which involved riding his motorcycle for ~12 hours over two days. He said it was pretty uncomfortable.

The day after arriving in Colorado, which would be three days after his surgery, he went whitewater rafting. He said that was also pretty uncomfortable.

Somehow, I don't think his doctor would have approved of him doing those a day or two after surgery.
