Looking for a SMALL but powerful battery rechargeable hand vacuum with a very good bag (lung disease) that keeps the dirt. Doesn't need to be hepa, but something pretty decent. Primarily for auto and garage use and on outdoor projects when sawing/grinding. I'm already committed to Milwaukee M18 battery system, but I haven't checked those guys.

Example: sucking out the crap from and air box when changing to engine air filter when the air housing box isn't quick or easy to remove from the engine bay for additional cleaning. Or grinding metal and sucking up the shavings etc. That sort of stuff.

What do you like ?

I’m looking for something similar and with Fathers Day right around the corner the timing is perfect…

Milwaukee has a couple of M18-ran vacuums, but this 2-gallon model is their smallest:

Under $150 at most places.

I have both of these and they work well. The Milwaukee works best for the auto but I wish the hose was longer. The Bosch is great for open areas.

I think the OP is looking for a hand held self contained unit not a hose to a tank. OP please clarify.

I bought one of these.

It uses rechargeable Makita batteries. Since I have several Makita tools, I've got batteries to run the vacuum.

Picture a potent Dustbuster but you can put an extension on it. It also a floor sweeping attachment and another tight space attachment. I use it more than I thought I would.

That Makita looks intriguing, since I already have a number of XLT 18V tools and batteries. Thanks for the link.

I'm in the DeWalt batteryverse and I have this one. Works OK, plenty of power, light and handy, but drains batteries pretty quickly due to the inherent high duty cycle of the vacuuming procedure. Wife likes it for quick cleanups around the house, a bonus there.

^^ I ordered one of those yesterday to tidy up the cockpit. Glad to see a positive report about it.

It sounds like it may be bigger than you're looing for, but I can vouch for the M18 shop vac. I have one, and it's very good. A quick look at google shows they have a whole lot smaller options now as well, I would imagine they would work pretty well too.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."
