henryaz Good on you Maestro.
We fostered our new Borzoi from a Borzoi rescue league. It only took a week for the foster to fail.

0-0Nice.
Speaking of one eyed dachshunds, let me share the story of Capt. Morgan, aka Morgan.
Back at school, my best friend left his pregnant long haired dachshund to my care for a few days.
Her litter of 6 or 8 was born on my bed while we were not paying attention. One of them had a closed eyed, malformed. All the others found homes in no time, we got the special one. Morgan.
He was the first dog in my country to wear a bucket around his head after an eye surgery. This was the late 70s. His eye improved, his sight, not so sure. None of his litter lived a long life but him.
By the late 76 he moved with us to Europe and got to travel around a lot. Peed on the Prado Museum in Spain and pooed on the Parthenon in Greece. Got run over a couple of times and survived and was a barrel of laughts when he met snow for the first time and couldn't decide if he preferred his legs or balls to freeze on contact.
After ten years he returned with the family and spent his last years with us. Died on my arms after an incredible and long life.
We've had a foster dachshund before him, Snoopy but after Morgan we've had it with Dachshunds and switched to Airedales and Terriers.
He was definitely one of a kind.

darthfusterThank you for easing her suffering. We have always adopted rescue pets. They are the best. I believe they know they've been rescued and show their gratitude.

Patrick-SP2022It was very good of you to take Stinky in.
How old do you think she is?
We have been lucky enough to rescue 3 dogs over the past couple of years.
From having kitties only to having a mixed family, it has been a fun experience.

LeemurWe rescued a smelly old guy several years ago. He was part everything including Dodge Dart. Could rip farts that’d knock a buzzard off a gut wagon. Sweetest dog I’ve ever known. He’s been gone a few years now but I’d take the gas bomb in again in a heartbeat.

hrcjonWhat a great story, I send my love for you and the dog in every possible way. I've tried to foster dogs, really, but every single one of them stayed.

NMPinNYCExcellent news! I was unsure when I read the title to your post, and am happy to see all is splendid with you and yours and your new pup. God bless you for taking her in and she will love you to pieces, which I think you already know and feel.
Best regards,

slabsides45Kind of you to take her in, she looks like a keeper!!
That left eye looks a little glaucomatous, might better get the vet to check her eye pressure.

KevinCWWhat a sweet little girl.
I love rescue dogs, and I'll have no other.
My first was a Golden Retriever found running by the school my mom taught at. I was about 6, and luckily my mother's coworkers talked her into taking him home for us (we had been begging to get a dog)
After that, we were so hung up on Golden's that we bought a puppy after the first one passed, and he was great too.
After that, when i bought my own house, My ex wife and I went to the animal control shelter and got a black lab puppy. She was wonderful and when she needed a friend to play with, we went back to the shelter and got a redbone coonhound who had been surrendered twice. There are both awesome dogs.
Sadly, my ex took them in the divorice and I dont' see them anymore, but I'm sure that they are doing well (or hope at least).
Now I have a rescue pit bull that my current GF got as a pup. Her mother was smuggled back from Iraq by a former soldier who ran afoul of the law. She gave birth to a litter and Greta was the runt.
She is the sweetest, most playful, gentle dog i've met. She has totally sold me on the pit bull breed.
Thanks for getting a rescue. Greta approves.
