Chowser“Mysterious” shooting on the property of a Special Forces member
What's the lighting condition at 8:15pm in Carthage, NC? Why would this no english speaking guy with no ID be "taking photographs" in the late evening? Not even a reflective vest? If you look at Utilities One's website, everyone is wearing a vest identifying the company.
Also the 911 call was not the soldier. I believe it was another resident.

trapper189A quick search of the internet says sunset on May 3, 2024 in Carthage, NC was 8:07.03pm so, 8:15pm was within legal shooting hours for birds and most game.
The camera should show what he was taking pictures of.

PGTNo charges filed, legit defensive shooting. No surprise there.
"
investigators discovered that Daraev was a Russian native from Chechnya who entered the U.S. across the southern border in mid-December 2022 "
Would be nice to know whether Ramzan Daraev was authorized to enter over the Southern border or authorized to work in the US. The lack of info on that and an Interational Driver's License probably means the obvious is true; no on both accounts.

wcb6092There is more to this story. The FBI has reportedly refused to investigate even though a Chechen was near a Special Forces Officer's house taking photos.
Move on, nothing to see here.

PGTArmy CID would have jurisdiction at some point given the sensitivity of the location, the officer's rank and unit. This was either extremely bad luck or the Chechen was out for a recce.

Having the FBI ‘launch an investigation’ would be a waste of time - they won’t find anything, solve anything or even come up with the victims name.

ulstermanHe showed up on a Special Forces Officers property with a camera.
Home owner told him to leave.
He didn't.
He became aggressive.
He's DRT.
The word is out in the Special Forces community.

smlsig^^^
The word was out about 30 minutes after the shooting. We have 2 SF people who live within 100 meters of us, one being a family member. They have always been vigilant as you would expect even when home but this did raise the bar quite a bit, particularly because it could potentially affect their families and like in this case there is zero tolerance for that kind of shit.
In looking at the utility company the guy “worked for” it is owned by a young Russian and there is a lot of Russian fingerprints all over this situation.

selogicAny subcontractor working for a power company , and interacting with the public should have picture ID and a contact at the power company that can vouch for them and their reason for being there . Been there , done that . It ain't difficult .
