Also there was this gas station in my hometown Luthersville, GA. The gas station had a little chicken and burger joint inside it. "Bubba Dos" was the name of it. HUGE burgers cooked on this griddle.

They were fantastic! Grease dripping down your hands messy burgers.

I used to pass through Canton, TX, frequently on my way to and from Lake Fork, on bass-fishing trips. I think the first bacon-cheese burger I ever had was from the Dairy Palace in Canton.

I've probably had better ones since then, but damn they we good after being on the water for 12 to 20 hours, eating nothing but Ritz Bitz and maybe a can of Vienna sausages.

There is one in Charleston, SC that I always get when I have the time. Moe's Crosstown Tavern used to have the best "black and blue" burger.

El Cap in St. Petersburg is dam good for the Tampa Bay area

I can tell you this, Five Guys have the most bland burger. Not bad, just bland compared to all the hype.

It's been 20+ years since I had one, but the Mo Club in Missoula Montana makes a kick ass cheeseburger.

Side Door Saloon in Petoskey, MI.

Not just a cheeseburger, but an olive burger. I almost didn't order it because it also had mushrooms, and bacon, but I did and was so glad I did.

I still crave it nearly 4 years later.

If ya don't know olive burgers are kind of a northern Michigan thing and are green olives on a burger.

Some joint in Omaha a few years back had a Buffalo cheeseburger that had all the right fixings. Damn if I can't remember the name of the place.

The Honey Bee's directly across the street from the main gate at the US Naval base in Yokosuka Japan. Thirty one years later I still miss those damn greasy cheese burgers, egg burgers, and delicious fries. Also, conveniently located to fill your stomach before a night of drinking on Honch street, or to sober you up a bit before trying to stagger past the Marines manning the main gate.

Agreed. I don't at all understand the hype for this chain.

I used to like Five Guys, but the last time I went there it was almost 16 bucks for a cheeseburger, fries, and a soda. Not worth it especially when they give you barely enough fries to fill the cup now as opposed to filling half of the bag with fries. No thanks.

They try to have a food truck at the racetrack(PPIR) most time attack events. I eat one or two every chance I get. Nothing really special about them, they are just done right. Maybe they just pair particularly well with burnt race tires and high octane exhaust.

I just got goosebumps.

Short Stops are pretty good for cheap fast food. They use a chain-char-broiler like BK, and have good fries. You can usually find them in ghetto neighborhoods down South.

A kobe beef cheeseburger at the Hotel New Otani in Tokyo. I ordered it based on the picture in the lobby after arriving from US 23 hours of travel. When I paid the expense it was in yen. My report converted it to dollars. $75!

So I left Fuddruckers just as a huge thunderstorm rolled into the area. A tremendous lightning stroke hit, fairly close. I looked up at the heavens and said, "What? All this over one sandwich?"

Yup. WAY overcooked, 100% flavor-free.

On the other hand, their fries are really fantastic.
