Attorney General William Barr praised President Trump for his executive order that could allow federal regulators to take punitive action against social media giants for the way they regulate online content.

Trump's order rolls back the long-standing legal protection known as Section 230, which spares tech companies from being held liable for the content they allow online and how they decide to monitor it.

Barr said the protection, which was adopted about 25 years ago, has been stretched beyond its original intention of not holding tech companies accountable for the content created by third-party users.

"It’s been completely stretched to allow what have become really behemoths who control a lot of the flow of information in our society to engage in censorship of that information and to act as editors and publishers of the material," Barr said.

"So when they put on their own content, like fact-check content onto other people’s content and when curate their collection, they start censoring particular content, including in many cases the direction of ... governments like communist China, they become publishers. They shouldn’t be entitled to the same kind of shield that was set up earlier," he continued.

The order comes days after Twitter put a fact-check alert on one of Trump's tweets, linking mail-in voting to increased voter fraud.

Twitter has taken steps to combat misinformation in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic to avoid what it deems potentially dangerous medical hoaxes or advice from spreading throughout the public.

Trump has aggressively pushed back on the action, accusing the company of political bias.

Barr said Trump's order is a strong step in addressing the problem of increased oversight of tech companies on its users and allow Section 230 to return to its original intent.

"They are using that market power with particular viewpoints," Barr said. "That is wrong. It has to be addressed, not only to this executive order, but I think litigation going forward."

Earlier today, video was released of Twatter's reaction to President Trump's Executive Order...

"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

Does the Attorney General office entail personal protection from SS or other agency?

I want to know A.G. Barr is safeguarded.

Edited: OK, found my own answer. It is the FBI.

https://abcnews.go.com/Politic...is/story?id=66258938

"Within the Department of Justice (DOJ), both the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service have delineated personal protective functions focused on individuals within the DOJ framework.

The FBI operates the protective detail for the attorney general of the United States and also others as requested by DOJ. The attorney general is the FBI's only permanent personal protective mission."

One US Marshal is more bad ass than 30 FBI city slickers. Better looking, more powerful, better pistol shot and gets more good looking babes. One Marshal could take on 30 FBI city slickers with one hand while whoopin 3 Ninjas with the other. I've actually read of US Marshals taking down bad guys quite handily but never read a thing about FBI doing anything other than dawning dress suits.

Twatter hit Trump again today with a notice that his tweet violates the Twitter violence rules, however they will leave it up as it seems to be in the publics interests.

We know that means they want people to see them accuse him of inciting violence.

TweedyTwatfucers without Trump, Twitters stock is in the shitter.

I don't think so.

The problems with mail in ballots was a factor in Washington State’s 2004 governor election.
The Republican won be 261 votes. A recount showed he won with 42 votes.
When this went to court a new recount was ordered. This was when heavily blue King County “discovered” missing ballots. Eventually King County came up with 721 ballots. There’s were enough so the the Democrat “won” the election by 139 vote.
King County also took care of the military vote “ King County was three days past its federally mandated due date of October 10 to send out its absentee ballots to overseas military personnel, widely considered more likely to vote Republican. The United States Postal Service Bulk Permit #1455 was used to mail 1,605 ballots on October 2, and 28,000 on October 13. The Republicans claimed that the delay may have prevented military service people from voting, thereby skewing the results in King County.” Until then! The Democrats cry was “count every vote.” Nobody was able to established how many military votes didn’t trash the service member or missed the return dates.

“ The work of destruction is quick, easy and exhilarating; the work of creation is slow, laborious and dull.

Mail in ballots need to be a no go. The RNC needs to fight against that tooth and nail.

“You need to go home,' Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz says as new fires, looting hit Minneapolis“

This is the headline in the Mpls. Star Tribune this morning. It’s all Walz is good at telling people to go home and signing executive orders closing businesses and stay at home orders. Guess that doesn’t work for the anarchists. Trump offered to send the military in and stop the chaos but Walz chose to let his city burn.

Let’s recap shall we gov. You foolishly shut down you’re own economy for several months over a manufactured pandemic crisis fully expecting a federal bailout afterwards. Then you discover how fun and easy it is to order the sheep around. Stay at home wear a mask no travel. You can open you’re business but you can’t. Dang this being governor stuff is easy! And fun! Then ooooppps!! Some cop puts a knee on a perps neck who happens to be black and kills him. Dang didn’t see that coming huh? Now you’re city is not only broke from no economic activity for nearly 90 days but now you are going to be facing a YUGE wrongful death suit and you’re city is burning to the ground!

But you’d sooner have that than let Trump do what you’re incapable of. Nice job gov nice job.

If I were a business owner of one of the places burned or looted and trashed. Hell would freeze over before I woud rebuild there. I would take my place far away. These assholes want to burn and destroy their neighborhoods...fine let them see what it's like with no place to go for their groceries, clothes, jobs, etc. Screw them!
One thing I find hilarious is to see the cnn center trashed after all the years of their lies, hypocrisy and encouraging such thugs and their behavior.

Some of you are not aware that I have said we are not going to discuss the latest idiocy in our nation with these stupid fucking riots, correct? Otherwise, why would I see posts in this thread on that very subject?

I'm certain that many of the longtime members understand this and I'm certain that many others are puzzled by this. What it comes down to is that this is the same old shit. We have people in our society who are looking for any excuse to tear it down. They are unhappy that law enforcement exists. They are unhappy that we don't have an America-hating, ignorant, radical fraud in the White House. They are unhappy about the racial makeup of this nation, and who they perceive as being in charge. They are unhappy that we are not a socialist nation. They are unhappy about pretty much everything. All of you older guys- they want you gone.

None of this is new. None of this is interesting. Quite frankly, it's boring. These people know one tune only, and they screech it out to the rest of us any and every chance they get, and I am no longer paying attention to their incessant pissing and moaning.

If you want to hop on that same old merry-go-round and waste your time, that is your privilege. I've no doubt that you can find an outlet for discussion of this SSDD, but SIGforum will not be that place.

To the extent possible/practical, I have avoided receiving any news about this latest excuse to burn down this nation. I haven't watched any news programs for months, due to the other monumental idiocy playing out in this nation. I visit a couple of news portal websites but as soon as the page loads, I scroll down to avoid even so much as glimpsing a headline about these pissing children burning down their own neighborhoods. Now, given this, do you think that I want to see any conversation in this forum about this crap, discussed even in the vaguest of terms?

I realize that many of you will disagree with my prohibition of this subject and I realize that it may seem silly to avoid it in a thread about our current WH administration, but that's the way it is.

I am asking you guys to do your best to avoid even the vaguest of allusions to this latest nonsense. I am just not participating in this crap, and that means SIGforum is not participating in it.

The RNC needs to move their convention ASAP.

"Democratic North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper stood his ground against President Donald Trump in a Friday letter addressing Republican plans to host the party convention in the state.

Trump has threatened to move the Republican National Convention to another state if Cooper does not relax his state’s lockdown to allow for full attendance. Cooper’s administration responded in a Friday letter saying the state would not allow the RNC to move forward without distancing measures in place. "
https://dailycaller.com/2020/0...ntion/#disqus_thread

The convention start date is three months from now. And this leftist asshole is going to extend this farce in his state to spite Trump.

Thanks for spelling out your thinking boss. I had missed (or forgotten, damned CRS) the prohibition and appreciate being told before I screw up. I also appreciate knowing the why. Seems like an approach well worth emulating.
