I'm not sure how this happens, but hopefully there are survivors. All flights halted at Reagan National Airport due to plane crash WASHINGTON — Police are investigating a plane crash near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. DC Fire and EMS say, on Wednesday night a small plane went down near the airport landing in the Potomac River. Officials are saying a helicopter crashed into a plane Wednesday, Jan. 29 just before 9 p.m. as it was landing at DCA. DC Police have confirmed that it was not one of their helicopters involved in the crash. All flights at Reagan National have been halted as rescue crews work to find victims from the plane. According to Councilmember Brooke Pinto, it was a 60-person passenger plane. However, it is unclear how many people were onboard. Multiple agencies are on the ground and in the air conducting rescue efforts. "All takeoffs and landings have been halted at DCA," Reagan Airport said at around 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday. "Emergency personnel are responding to an aircraft incident on the airfield. The terminal remains open. Will update." Senator Jerry Moran from Kansas posted a Tweet about the crash. Senator Roger Marshall from Kansas tweeted, "I've seen the reports of a collision with a D.C. helicopter and an inbound flight from Wichita, KS. We are in contact with authorities working to get answers. We ask you to join us in prayer for every single passenger and their families." This is an ongoing investigation, we have crews on the way to gather more information. We will update you when we learn more. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis | ||
