My Dad had occasion to visit a meat packing plant many years ago. After he saw what they tossed into "the weiner bucket" as the guy giving him the tour called it, he refuses to eat hot dogs to this day. I still eat the better ones (and sausage) but just try not to think about what he said.

I will say that in my, very limited, experience, with the third world, I think they’re pretty safe to eat at. I have celiacs and never had an issue. Their supply chains tend to be very short and they know everyone involved, unless it was processed food from a first world country - and trying to get them to understand that I’d rather eat the local stuff than the processed stuff from the first world was hard. I will say that I never ate from street stalls/ the lower end of the third world food supply.
