I believe Kaylub could have ripped the scum in two with his bare hands if needed; a real tradesman in his prime years with his two children in danger. Either way, well done, sir.

Why memorialize the murderer by posting his name? They do these things to attract attention and to be remembered.
Posting his name only confirms to others like them that they will not be forgotten on the dung heap of history where they deserve to be dropped.

We should remember what they do and the victims, not who did it. There is a movement that promotes that idea—and for good reason.

A good guy with a gun (thankfully) ignored a gun free zone to take care of a bad guy with a gun who also ignored a gun free zone. Every time I see a "Gun Free Zone" sign I am amazed, saddened and angry (all at the same time) at the stupidity that led to its being there.

Earlier this year I read a book by Ed Monk called "First 30 Seconds" I recommend it to all here.

Apparently in Oregon, a person who is lawfully concealed carrying their weapon CAN be on school property. . .

from google -

“can a legally concealed carry holder be near a school in oregon

Yes, a person with a valid Oregon Concealed Handgun License (CHL) can be near or on school grounds, unless the specific school district or higher education institution has passed a policy banning firearms.

Oregon State Law and School Restrictions

• Concealed Carry Exception: Under Oregon Revised Statute ORS 166.370, carrying firearms in public buildings (including schools and universities) is generally restricted, but state law provides an affirmative defense/exemption for individuals who hold a valid Oregon CHL.
• Local Opt-Out Authority (SB 554): Legislation passed in Oregon gives school districts, community colleges, and public universities the authority to opt out of this exemption and prohibit concealed firearms on their properties.
• Required Signage: If a school district or campus bans CHL holders, they must post clearly visible signs at all normal points of entry and maintain a notice on their official website.”

Had this been in PA, where a law abiding with an LTCF cannot be on school property with a concealed weapon, a much larger tragedy would have happened.

Oregon deserves credit for having the common sense to have a provision in their law allowing for this very scenario. Gun free zone advocates have to understand that these areas attract the insane.

The flip side of that coin is that the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990 (GFSZA) makes it a federal crime to possess a firearm in a school zone. Definition of a School Zone: This covers the grounds of any public, parochial, or private elementary or secondary school, as well as the area within 1,000 feet of those grounds.

Not saying it's a good law, because it isn't. It's a foolish and dangerous law. Then again, any laws restricting any gun rights of law abiding citizens of the USA are wrong. Control criminals. Execute capital offenders quickly and efficiently and we wouldn't need gun laws.

Impotent and spineless lawmakers refuse to dispense justice so they try to appear effectual and virtuous by harping on firearms.

100%, we need to erase this asshole even better than return fire did.

I'm sure he would have handled things even if he didn't have two daughters at the school. The fact that he did have two daughters there seems like it would have been a huge motivation to "get the job done".

Just to add another feather in his cap, biden was a big mover in the "gun free zone" legislation.

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory for his entire political career.

FWIW, I ignored a gun free zone and when a couple BG's broke our camp at 2:30am I was able to turn them away. No shots fired, but having a victim able to fight back wasn't in their plans.

Gun free zones are victim harvest zones.

You're incorrect, Bend is a very liberal town. Bend is a popular destination for Bay Area transplants, those wanting to move to a smaller, more quiet, liberal town.

As Para said, even the leftist Governor of Oregon acknowledged the hero dad’s actions. And in an article posted by PBS no less. Oregon Governor/PBS
"To the community member who heroically intervened to stop further loss of life: Your actions carry a heavy emotional burden, and I just want you to know that my thoughts are with you as well," said Kotek.
Glad to see that even a commie like her is publicly praising a man who saved many lives today.

As Oddball noted, Bend is a popular vacation and retirement destination, and has attracted considerably more than it's share of California transplants. And of course they bring California politics and policies with them. No, it's not as bad as Portland/Salem/Eugene, but it's getting there fast.

There is actually a movement afoot to change state borders to include western and southern Oregon in Idaho. It'll never go anywhere of course, but it's interesting that the proposed new border moves basically everything south and west of Bend into Idaho. There's an extension of the northwest corner of Oregon to include Bend.

The Bend, OR school has a resource officer but they weren't present that day. That officer oversees 6-7 other schools.

I don't know how but this time the media is all referring to the hero Dad as a "community member" from day one.

Most of the time when you read these articles it's hard to tell who the good guy with the gun is, as they make them out to be a criminal also. I'm glad there was a good guy with a gun around or this could have been a lot worse.
