I lost my father suddenly yrs ago and didn't have the opportunity to say good-bye.
My mother is hanging on w/ dementia and may take some time. I'm taking care of her.
I'm not sure what is "best" other than we do what we can.

Sorry about your loss, went through that two years ago with my mother, it isn't easy but in a way it was comforting that she was well taken care of in the last few days and no pain...
