Okay, you made the best decision given your late breaking circumstances and situation. Just make the best of it for the next year. Make lemonade out of the lemons.

That rug really tied the room together. |
I’m in south Florida and you can’t find a rental. Can’t. Every Tom Dick and Harry from Baltimore and Manhattan has moved to Florida and the inventory is non existent . It’s unbelievable. Never seen anything like it. People are moving to town and living in airBnB short term rentals and hotels until they can find something. It’s a mess. I hear it’s basically a full time job , every day shaking doors and driving all over trying to find a place to live. Everything is snatched up before you even get a chance. You have to basically be in bed with several realtors and property managers to get a chance at a place. This applies to rentals and semi affordable homes for sale. Houses are $100,000 over what they were 12 months ago. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

A year does go by quickly. My year here went by very fast. I remember saying to the guys at work "I can't believe we've been here for 5 months already." Next thing you know it was counting down instead of counting up.
I'm thinking we did dodge a huge bullet with how homes are so overpriced right now. Read some theories that in 4-5 years people will be looking to sell and realize they're upside down on their home because the market has corrected itself. It changed a lot from last year until this year. I was working for a homebuilder and we kept pushing. The bosses thought that if we laid people off like the other homebuilders, we would not only lose our employees but also the trades and they won't come back when called.
That is something that I will take advantage of for the next year. We will do some sightseeing. Always wanted to see Big Bend. There's also a watermelon farm about 2 hours from here. Might sound stupid but I really like watermelon.
No choice but to make the best of it now. Went back to the Jiu Jitsu gym last night to try to get back to a normal routine. Guys said, "I thought you were gone?" Went on a bike ride this morning.
The Airbnb or settling/overpaying for a home we didn't want would've burned us big time financially. Got sent some listings that didn't meet our requirements. Combination of too small, 1 car garage (I don't park cars outside), too expensive, etc. was a huge decision maker. Someone suggested Airbnb for a month while we found a home. I wasn't keen on that as that was assuming we'd find something that fit us while paying for the Airbnb and having stuff in storage. This year will give us a year to further purge stuff we don't need and refine packing. Some stuff isn't going to be unpacked at all. Now it's the challenge of finding employment. I have a few months of living expenses saved up and paid off a lot of debt but I'd prefer to get back to work sooner than later. _____________

Man that sucks. I've always found that when something like this doesn't work out, it's for a very good reason and a month or two later, something better pops up. Hang in there, life sucks sometimes......

Sucks but sounds like you and your family have your health. D it up, and plan for 12 months in the future where you’ll get to bail. I’d wait out this insane real estate market anyhow. It’s fucking insane. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone
