Traded for a used Aimpoint RDS and Mount, and it’s been spray painted. Best options or technique for getting the paint off? It isn’t a thick coat, so that should help! You might call Aimpoint and ask. Speaking generically for spray paint removal in general, my normal routine for removing spray paint on things starts with rubbing alcohol and work my way up to paint thinner/mineral spirits. I'll escalate to stronger solvents if I have to and I'm willing to risk what is under the paint or I know it won't be harmed. I'd start with all of those on a cotton swab in a hidden area before I went to town in a visible area. But call Aimpoint first and see if they have a recommendation.

Break clean melts paint off. Citristrip is good for delicates.

Do these RDSs have coatings on the optics that are sensitive to chemicals. I agree w/ M1Garandy. Calling first can't hurt.

Just a little update. Alcohol works, slow going tho. WD-40 did nothing, and brake cleaner was the same. Brake cleaner was used on a q-tip, that may not have helped. I had a can off Goop-off, and that was the best… but still not great. I’ll look for a small container of CitriStrip, otherwise the GoofOff will have to do! 10mm lays waste to entire cities, cuts through diamonds and will tear Superman a new asshole. - Parabellum Sex offenders can not be rehabilitated. Just to clarify, brake fluid. Not brake cleaner. Brake fluid will lift rattle can paint. Takes awhile. Maybe overnight, but it’ll get it done. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier
