Commies have always been this shameless but they didn’t have total control of the news media as they do now. As for the Country being this divided before, November 1860 comes to mind. --------------------- DJT-45/47 MAGA !!!!! The media has been full of shit for decades. It took President Donald J Trump to call them out and now we see it clear as a bell. But it's always been there. _________________________

A question I’ve been pondering more or less continually since before the 2016 election. I keep asking myself if I’m just guilty of confirmation bias, but despite searching my memory, I truly cannot recall examples of the sorts of things that have become commonplace over the past decade. What really started my thinking along those lines was BJ’s wife’s “basket of deplorables” characterization. I don’t believe that in my lifetime a major presidential candidate has ever attacked another candidate’s supporters in such a direct, ad hominem way. It didn’t start with her, but I believe it’s gotten far worse with the whole broad brush “anti-Fascist” thing, never-ending charges of racism, sexism, etc. And it’s not just the leftist fringe. When presidential candidates can openly call for forcible gun confiscation and exhibit no-compromise stands on immigration, taxation, and other issues that once they approached very gingerly, it seems very different than pretty much ever before. ► 6.4/93.6 ___________ “We are Americans …. Leading up to and past the Civil War, things were pretty bad politically, and many historians would say worse than what we've got today. With regards to media, yellow journalism was a term that came about in the late 19th Century, basically sensationalism and exaggeration...sound familiar. Newspaper moguls Hearst and Pulitzer (hummm ) were the big fish in this method of commercial media. Today, we're getting the 21st Century version of this, naturally, large commercial media corporations are purely focused on clicks and eye-balls, resulting in higher advert revenue; meanwhile their on-screen talent, believe themselves to be king-makers, arbiters of taste, reason and rationality. Crafting the opinion climate and moving Overton's Window being their ultimate goal. History is repeating itself.

Leftists engage in collective and inter-generational condemnation, mob rule, reject due process and embrace punishing the innocent for the sake of the guilty. These are some of the main components of genocide. This is the reason we cannot allow ourselves to be disarmed. To the contrary, we should be frantically trying to regain free access to the weapons govt agents would use on the public when the Left turns on us. I say 'when' intentionally. I have been following politics since the late 70s, and I have never seen what this country is going through now. Basically now, the entire mainstream media is a pure 100% propaganda machine for one political party, it has never been this bad. There will not be common ground between the two sides in my lifetime. 2020 is going to be a horrible year for politics. I am not looking forward to it, even though I know Trump will win. This was really not primarily about Kavanaugh. It is about RBG's declining health. The dems/media must do everything in their power to discredit the Supreme Court. They are hoping they can discredit any decisions they disagree with and open the door to packing the court or undermining the credibility of the court. Imagine if an attorney who had worked for Ted Cruz was out there making up asinine stories like this about Sotomayor's college days. Does anyone think for a minute that any media outlet would do anything other than smear the one making the allegation? “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams

I've wondered what it was like during all of the communist and socialist takeovers of the 20th century and what was going on in the minds of the citizens. I'm thinking that it may have been like this, what were going through now. When all of a sudden it seems like half the people in the country lose their minds, politicians completely ignore the rule of law and don't even try to hide their corruption. America has turned upside down and went completely ape shit crazy. I'm not being a pessimist, I'm just truly afraid for our future. I don't necessarily disagree with this theory, but I also think it was imperative for the Dem's/media to get Beto's gun confiscation comments out of the news cycle. This BS story accomplished both of those goals. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Every man should have several guns. I also agree that it's never been this bad. But, I have a slightly different take on the why. The way I see it, before the advent of talk radio and alternative media, national news/info were controlled by the same anti-American fake news. Folks were were fed day in and day out with garbage mostly. Sure, they threw us a bone here and there once in a while. But in general, people were just blind, and the corrupt media really had it easy having no real competition. With the rise of talk radio / alternative media, which are mainly conservative, folks now see how things really are. The corrupt media no longer can deceive people. Sure, the people who want cover their eyes and their ears still continue to do so. But, folks who want to know the truth will no longer want to eat the bullshit they've been fed for so long. So, for the maggots in the media, since they have been exposed, it's now an all out war against those with opposing views from theirs, and they don't care how they will achieve their goal. They will try to destroy you using any dirty tricks up their sleeves. That's why we are seeing humanity sunk to this new low. Q

agree I've been following politics since the late 50s as a sort of hobby. My closest buddy's family worked for some of the Idaho political power players thru the end of the Frank Church era. I heard stuff that was never on 'the evening news'. The late 60s were full of violence, riots, kidnapping, etc etc, go look at the headlines of the era. I think we have a more immediate window on such now. The internet has affected society far more than expected; of course we'll survive; whether because of it or in spite of it. Politicians have a long history of corruption/incompetence/failure/tragedy/abuse of power. What we didn't have much of before the 60s, was a FreeStuffArmy feeding off the taxpayers so openly. **************~~~~~~~~~~ "I've been on this rock too long to bother with these liars any more." ~SIGforum advisor~ "When the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change, then change will come."~~sigmonkey

President Trump tweets: I call for the Resignation of everybody at The New York Times involved in the Kavanaugh SMEAR story, and while you’re at it, the Russian Witch Hunt Hoax, which is just as phony! This is just another despicable move by the left but I can't seem to get myself too worked up over it. I'm actually starting to feel optimistic. The left has prospered over the years because of the indifference and gullibility of much of the public. But now they've completely and thoroughly exposed themselves and everyone can't help but notice. They've gone too far. They've lost all credibility. Most importantly, they're making people angry and that's going to translate into a large voter turnout that doesn't work in their favor. I believe the next Presidential election is going to be historic with respect to how lopsided it's going to be. Trump is going to win by a landslide. This is the beginning of the end for them. It only remains to be seen how their disciples will react when they can't get someone elected to town dog-catcher. And I'm not even the least bit concerned.

more from Sen Grassley https://www.washingtontimes.co...er-never-contacted-/ The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee said that a former Yale classmate who accused Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct in a New York Times report over the weekend never told the panel. Sen. Chuck Grassley, Iowa Republican, told reporters the report is the first he’d heard of it. “That person, Mr. Stier, didn’t reach out or provide information to the committee majority,” Mr. Grassley said during a Senate floor speech. “My office never received anything from Mr. Stier or his unnamed friends.” “Had my staff received substantive allegations or had he approached me or my staff, we would have attempted to take a statement and interview him,” he said Monday. In his floor speech, Mr. Grassley denounced The New York Times for “some embarrassing, irresponsible missteps.” “This is not an allegation. It’s barely a third-hand rumor,” he said.
