Anyone have experience with a counter top garbage disposal air switch?

6gunsAnyone have experience with a counter top garbage disposal air switch?
I just heard about this for the first time today and wonder about their use. I'm having an island installed in the kitchen and there is no wall for a conventional switch.
I don't doubt they work fine, but I'm concerned about grit, grime and other crap getting caught in the surface button design.
Thoughts?

SigJacketMine is totally smooth, just wipe off. Had these for years, nothing to worry about.

Redleg06We had the same issue until we remodeled our kitchen a few years ago. Added an air switch and could not be happier; and it's worked just fine since.

BurtonRWI’ll echo everyone else. We’ve had ours since we remodeled the kitchen when we bought the house a few years back. It’s located on the countertop right next to the faucet. No problems at all.

Powers77Have had them in a couple of houses now, including the current one. No issues at all.

GeorgeairOurs is slightly convex so reduces anything ending up in it. With a good seal on counter should be fine.

P250UA5Had to look it up, didn't know that was what the switch was called, we have that style on ours. Hasn't given us any trouble in the 3 years we've been here.

HRKBest switch for a disposal, did it when we did the new island, works like a charm, nothing electrical on the counter with them....

straightshooter01I added one to my last kitchen. Didn't want to drill into my granite so I actually mounted it into the wood cabinet face just under and beside the sink. It was basically right where your hand would fall when standing at the sink. It was under the granite overhang so it never got any kind of crap in it. We were completely happy with its placement and never had an issue with it.

mke229Did an air switch to the left of faucet (InSinkErator brand), hand soap dispenser to the right mounted in/under the top. Both in same faucet trim. No problems with dirt or grim. Would 100% do the same again.

Awesome idea, thank you!
Mine is behind the door, so not convenient to use and I've not had the guts to do a permanent modification to the granite

fwbulldogThis is a timely post! I didn't know these existed.
My old kitchen faucet just died, and the wife picked a new on that only uses a single hole but has separate handles for hot/cold that come out the sides (like an old country sink faucet). The existing hole pattern is too close together to use the new faucet with the new sprayer.
I had to drill a new hold for the sprayer, and was trying to figure out what to put in the old hole. I was going to just use a copper plug, but one of these air switches would be perfect.
It solves two problems at once! My wife loves to put so much shit on counter that it's impossible to get to the disposal switch without moving 35 (fragile) things while you're hands are wet.
This will plug the hole and is super convenient to activate the disposal (and she won't be able to cover it up!).
Thanks!

sig2392For $20 I put in a wireless switch.
I was going to do an air switch but my wife did not want me to put a hole in the countertop.
No drilling. I installed it in 2019 no problems.
