This will surely end racism. Aunt Jemaima has been deemed a racist stereotypical image and is now going to join the beautiful Land o Lakes Native American woman and vanish completely from the packaging. “ We recognize Aunt Jemima’s origins are based on a racial stereotype," Quaker Oats said, adding that the move is an effort "toward progress on racial equality." If someone was seriously triggered by a bottle of pancake syrup with a happy black lady on it they should do the world a favor and dive into a wood chipper head first. This is just fucking silly. On the cultural side, this is ridiculous. But on the practical side, I wouldn't shed a tear if Aunt Jemima syrup disappeared altogether. It's just brown-colored high fructose corn syrup with artificial flavoring. You can do a lot better with real maple syrup.

Well, now Mrs. Butterworth's gotta go too. Fair's fair 'n shit. Can't have the white granny prevail. Friggin' idiots. "We're all travelers in this world. From the sweet grass to the packing house. Birth 'til death. We travel between the eternities."

I used those when I was a kid but as an adult I hate all the corn syrup and artificial junk. Get some real Vermont maple syrup and don’t look back (I buy mine from a friend of one of our Sigforum members). I think I may buy some Mrs. Butterworth/Aunt J bottles to put my real maple syrup in.

Why don't we get rid of all depictions of humans at all. The Taliban are here, and have conquered too many minds in our country. Yeah Mike, Uncle Ben is gonna have to go too. He is reinforcing a racist stereotype too or something. Wonder how long until he gets tossed into the memory hole? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

Don't Panic |
So....I thought putting 'diverse' images into ads was a big thing for the politically correct, not all that long ago. Somehow, we are to imagine that both that it's OK, nay, preferable, to show black folks in ads for products, but that it's not OK for them to be on the products themselves. Missing the logic, somehow.

Yeah I'll buy it with a normal everyday fat black woman's pic on the labels ....

In all of these silly examples, we have yet to hear from anyone who is actually offended. Not their advocates. . the actual 'victims'. Where is the outcry from the black community over Aunt Jemaima, or the sword handles, or Stapleton, or the word Antebellum (yes the band Lady Antebellum will not be "Lady A")?

Friggin' ridiculous virtue signaling combined with corporate cowardice...I am sooooo tired of the cowardice and capitulations to emotionally unstable unreasonable Leftist temper tantrums, complete with tears and pouty faces.
Read my mind, as I was about to make the same suggestion. The syrup itself will do in a pinch but, truth be told, I don't give a damn about the actual corn syrup, but the childhood memories that a bottle of Aunt J sitting on a breakfast table bring can't be replaced. I'll gladly keep some Aunt J bottles around just to pour some maple syrup in and enjoy...my middle finger to Leftist SJWs and corporate cowardice. ..I just wish I could find an old glass bottle rather than the plastic ones. As a slight deviation from the topic; years ago I devised a unique way to eat syrup covered pancakes/ flap jacks that others seem to get great amusement in watching me perform and eat.

Is it similar to the method of eating cereal without a bowl, wherein you shove a handful of cereal in your mouth, take a swig of milk, and chew?

Agreed. Growing up, Aunt Jemaima was a sugary sweet syrup, not a pancake mix. Looking at the bottle while eating, I never liked the image as it represented the slave mammy; the mythical, kindly, heavy set but, dim witted house maid. Same deal with Uncle Ben, not only was the rice shitty but, again it represented the obedient, kindly slave image. There's a whole back story of how it was marketed and several women played the role around at Worlds Fairs and school visits as Aunt Jemaima. Racist, I don't think so, insensitive, yeah.
