Been pretty burned out lately. Went up last night even though it was supposed to be fairly windy. 3500 feet was dead calm and beautiful. Needed that.

I agree with everybody else, it looks relaxing.

Except if I was at the controls, it wouldn't be relaxing. I don't know how to fly any plane.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I worked for ~20 years for earth science firms, which included aerial imagery. (I was on the business side). There were a number of engineers with pilots licenses. I considered getting my pilots license, but decided if I were the one flying the plane, and something went wrong, I had limited time/limited options to get it right, with high consequences if I screwed up. I passed on the opportunity.

Thanks fellas! It's a blessing to have an outlet as fun as flying to get away from it all.

I look at it like driving a car at this point (just add a dimension Big Grin) I guess think of all the quick decisions you've had to make driving, similar scenario/reaction assuming it's something you don't have time to troubleshoot.

Identify the problem. Can I fix the problem? If no, can I influence the problem? If no, enjoy the ride Razz Getting past step 3 is a doozy.

20 for me. I quiet when my wife told me she was pregnant. He turns 21 in April. Been thinking about taking it up again. No glass cockpits when I learned. That's a beautiful airplane.

Statistically and all, driving is much more dangerous, if you need the excuse Wink

I used steam gauges for many years. The Garmin G1000 stuff is incredible. I can't see going back (maybe for something cool/old)

I stopped in college, downside to being a broke college student. Had a free plane & cheap instructor in high school. Majority of my hours are in a Cessna 150M.
Have thought about picking it back up, just not sure what I'd do with it. Have to drive 40 min - 1 hr to get an airport far enough outside IAH airspace.

It's only time & money Cool
Maybe if I had access to a plane like I used to.
Flying out of 45R is a little Cessna was a great feeling. No tower, just jump in & go.

With kids ranging from 6mo to 9yrs, it'll probably be a while before I'm flying.
