My condolences and thank you for your post Gene. I concur whole heartedly about Cancer and how it affects and disrupts many lives, I will always keep in prayer for those past and presently affected by this horrible disease, who rarely leaves so few untouched in one way or another, by association or individually.

Regards, Will G.

I lost my two best friends three weeks apart in April 2019.

It sucks.

I find telling others about my friends and their lives eases the grief just a tad.

Cancer sucks. Just awful.

My best friend, we were like brothers, slipped free of the pain and suffering earlier today.

About 4 months ago he went from a strong and hard working, very energetic guy working 60+ hours a week, and within just a few days was struck by tremendous pain and could barely walk. They gave him 4 months to live and that ended up being very accurate. It was Stage 4 situation and nothing could be done. He just turned 62 about 6 weeks ago.

I had no idea that bone cancer could be so painful. It's awful to see someone suffer, I hate it.

What is especially bad is that he was an only child and his Mother was his only living relative. Unfortunately his Mother is in the advanced stages of Dementia/Alzheimers and now there is no one to take care of her, so I guess the State will step in and put her in some sort of facility. As sad as that is, I'm thankful that she really had no idea of what was going on the last few months.

I've always wondered if it was better to die quickly and it be over with, or to have a disease or something that took months or years to run it's course until you pass. If you die quickly there is no time to make sure your affairs are in order, etc, but there is no suffering for you. If you have an affliction that takes a long time to kill you then you have some time to say the final goodbyes and set things up for your passing but you may very suffer as well as your loved ones suffering too.

There is no right or wrong way or answer, but this has shown me that you need to have your affairs in order right away, instructions written up, your will done, no loose ends. Don't leave those things for your loved ones to have to deal with after you pass. In my friends case, he thought he was healthy, but he wasn't, and then he managed to get most things set up and arranged, but that's extra hard to deal with when you're hoping and praying and trying to fight a disease that will end up winning anyway.

Rest in Peace, Glen, you were a good Christian man blessed with a great singing voice, may you be in God's Presence in Heaven now and singing in the Heavenly Choir.

That is all, thank you for letting me say this, it has made me feel a little better.
.

Aw, I am so very sorry, I have had a good pard suffer with the C for months and years. First time, he apparently whipped it after a lot of suffering. About 6-7 years later it came back, and then he really suffered.
So, so painful to his family and friends as well. He himself was brave as hell. I am still mortified that he asked me,well mouthed to me, because he couldn't actually speak to bring him a handgun.
I got out of there, but then thought and thought about it, and am ashamed to say, I think he would have done it for me. But I couldn't do it.
As for an extended time to say goodbye and all that. I firmly believe that long goodbyes are way overrated.
Prayers and best wishes for you and those left behind.

Not much I can say. I am very sorry for you and your friend. I sat by my father in law during his bout with lung cancer. Hardest thing I've ever done. Take care and be strong.
