Get my pies
outta the oven!

My wife asked me to start getting the lights out and ready to be lit soon, and I’m finding that nearly EVERY string of Walmart lights I’ve bought in the past few years either doesn’t light at all or only half the string lights up.

It’s strange because I know they worked last year when they got put away but somehow managed to go bad while sitting.

The strings of lights I’ve bought from Amazon have been going strong and no issues at all. These seem to be more of a sealed non replaceable bulb type and also are low voltage which seems safer to me. Instead of being 120V all the way, there’s a 12V power supply for each string. I think I’m done with the traditional type from Walmart and am going to go all sealed bulb low voltage type from Amazon.

The kind giving me lots of trouble:

The kind I’m going to standardize on:

The first are incandescent bulbs. The latter appear to be LED bulbs.

The neighbors already have the fancy, color-changing ones up. :: sigh ::

I hope the family doesn't want me to hang my ass off the roof do hang ours. We skipped them last year.

I don't know if, in my life, I've had a set last more than a few years. A lot of stores offer to plug them in and make sure they work before you buy them, that's telling.
