I have two Stihl saws, a BG600 leaf blower and a weed whacker. One saw about 30 years old and one 8-10. if I haven't used it for 6 months or so I'll start it up and let them get warmed up.

I do similar, but don’t fool with using the avgas beyond a certain age elsewhere. Having flown aircraft with fuel that has been in the tanks for multiple years without issue, I don’t worry about any age a gas in chainsaws.

Because small Honda motors (5hp and below) seem to be picky little witches about their fuel, we use 100ll in those as well. It just avoids a ton of carb problems in engines that may get used a lot, or may sit idle for a good while.

When I was a kid, one used to be able to buy “white gas” and that seemed pretty stable, but that was back before unleaded became a thing.
