I'm a "no" vote.

People in toyota pickups kill other people, and usually die themselves, FREQUENTLY in Alaska. They aren't fantastic in icy highway conditions. Their drivers typically do not survive moose encounters.

This might be harder than I thought. Did see a nice used Sierra extra cab.

6-speed Tacos are usually in short supply, now it seems even the auto box ones are. Local dealer here usually has a lot full of them, only7 two right now.

No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

My old Subaru was much better in snow and ice than my Tacoma so that is a fair statement. To alleviate that, I have a shell and I generally put 8-10 bags of salt over the rear axle in the winter which drastically improves traction.

the Tacoma's are all on the used lot section of the dealerships. They are trying to sell them for more than new that are a year or two old. And there are ton's of them. A real head sratcher Razz

Love my Taco's! My commute was over 100 miles a day. I drove my 2013 Tacoma 5 days a week and would still be driving it but I treated myself to a retirement present-2020 TRD Sport v6 Auto:

I've enjoyed my 2017 Off Road for the past 3 years. Many trips to work, vacations, etc. It's been my daily driver without issue.

That being said, it's more of a two person vehicle even in the crew cab configuration. My 13 year old boy is starting to get a little cramped in the back seat.

I don't even have a dog, so passenger space is a non issue. Most likely would use the back seat for groceries or range trips and my lunch box.

A Perpetual Disappointment...

Excellent. Love the QS color. That would be my second choice after Cement.

I am done with trucks as a primary or back up vehicle

I think you should consider an a.w.d. or front wheel drive mini van,

For your application ,way more practical.

Anyone who drives a Tacoma as a daily driver sits down to pee. Especially the QS or Cement colored ones.

Consumer Reports gave a nod to the Colorado line over the Tacoma, they didn't say the Taco was a bad buy, not reliable, good looking, basically what's been said here.

The Colorado has just gone past the Tacoma in comfort, ride and tech. Consensus was that if you go off road a lot, either will do but the Taco shines, if you drive it everyday, comfort, mileage, better seats, etc, Colorado.

I don't have a horse in the race, so it matters not to me either way....

Can you drive it daily, sure, is it the best daily driver, depends on how it fits your lifestyle and needs. I found it a bit cramped, but I also found the Ranger doors Narrow and both have high step in heights, as did the Gladiator. Your needs may vary, I'd spend a day with each... $30 to $40K deserves a little more than a test ride around the block.

There is a lot of truth to this statement. My daily commute is 6 miles total. So the Taco isn’t bad. If I was doing 50 miles daily, it wouldn’t be the best for a daily driver. In fact, the seats were not comfortable until I spend $200 on seat jackers. The stereo is okay for the ten minutes I spend in the truck, but if I was making long drives, it would have to be upgraded, significantly.

Now, where I spend most of my time and miles in the truck, is off road. In my opinion, and what I have seen off road, there is no way the Colorado or the Ranger is even comparable to the Taco. Just like the Taco cannot stand up to the comforts of those two, the Taco is in a different league when it comes to off road.

That said, you’re not looking at off roading this vehicle at all, and only putting it in 4x4 a few times a year. You may look at the Colorado or Ranger. Finding one under $30k isn’t going to happen easily, although the Colorado has far more wiggle room on pricing and there are factory incentives.

If I was looking at a daily driver and wanted to be comfy, have a fun car, and one that will handle the snow just fine, in the range of $30k, I would look at a Subaru WRX. They start at $27k, and have 0.9% financing on the 2020 models. They have great creature comforts and are a total blast to drive. They also do great in the snow. And 0.9% is pretty awesome.

I have a 2015 Limited DCLB with the off-road package options. First owner special ordered it. I picked up with 13k miles on it in 2017. Just turned 100K last week. My daily drive is 50 miles and during youth hockey season add another 32 miles 3-4 days a week.
It does have the sportex? Seats, fake leather, by ware tough that are heated and the JBL Sound system; which is awesome. I frequently take it on 2+ hour drives each way for work and throw in 5hr long trips a couple of times a year.

I love the truck, took me a little while to get used to the low seats. I find it comfortable enough for trips.

My son who is 13 wants it when he turns 16, should have about 180K on it then.

I live in MA and run a set of dedicated winter tires Nov-March and really only use the 4x4 on big storms.
