I live in Arizona, the land of no DST.

At 3:52 this morning, the Assistant Manager I hired called me. She moved here in late November. She said she is very confused as her alarm went off on time and she’s at work, but no one is there and “the clocks all say it’s 3:52, but my phone says it’s 4:52 I’m so confused. What time is it?” I explained that we are the one state that doesn’t follow the Savings Time bullshit. She was pretty surprised, and happy that she was early as opposed to being late.

I’m still trying to figure out how the time on her phone was off. My phone sets the time anytime I travel, or when I was in Washington, it would set itself for Savings Time.

For the first time, ever my internal clock just wouldn't reset after last November's change. Waking up this morning actually felt natural.

Making DST permanent was introduced 1/3/25 and the House didn't do shit in 60+ days . They're all about making sound bites to get re-elected.

I do not understand why DST needs to be the one that gets to be permanent. Why not make the one closer to solar time the forever one?

I personally hate DST, I am an early to bed, early to rise person and now I'm back to walking the dog in the dark and I have black out curtains in my bedroom.

Why don't we simply split the difference, turn the clocks back 30 minutes in the Fall and call it quits?

And, of course, they HAVE to change the time on Sunday morning. The 'powers that be' don't care if people are late/early for church if they forget but OMG if it changes on Monday and someone is late for work!! Eek

Oh, hell no! Trust me ,this sucks!

I do a lot of business with India, and some "genius" decided to have a half hour time zone in India. I have a global job and deal with time zones frequently, but the half-hour one is hands down the worst.

Absolutely not!

We tried that back in 1974. People hated it so much the experiment was terminated after only ten months.

I'm hoping intelligence wins out over feels after the clocks get returned to standard time in the fall and Daylight Shifting Time is completely eliminated.

Next to ethanol: Perhaps one of the dumbest things government has ever come up with.

Trump Won't Change Daylight Saving Time Routine

President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House he won't interfere with the decades-old process of daylight saving time.

This year's one-hour forward adjustment of time is scheduled for 2 a.m. on the second Sunday of March. That is this coming Sunday, the 9th.

DOGE adviser Elon Musk posted about the time change this week and got over 1 million responses with only a slight edge in one direction in his poll regarding the time change. But Trump said he has a good handle on the numbers and has no intention of interfering with the long-standing policy of keeping time in America.

Trump told White House reporters, "It's a 50/50 issue, and if something is a 50/50 issue, it's hard to get excited about it."

The Hill reports the president said he knows a tough call when he sees it. "I assume people would like to have more light later, but some people want to have more light earlier because they don't want to take their kids to school in the dark."

So for now, daylight saving time remains a thing. Sort of. The U.S Navy Astronomical Applications Department points out that the state of Hawaii and most of Arizona do not observe the time change.

Modern reporting sucks. I suspect it was written by AI as it's a frivolous reference to expertise on something that is common knowledge.
