For all the Hunter replies. It may have be good in the past, they've fallen big time recently. They've also dragged Casablanca down with them too, they used to be top of line, now most models are re-branded Hunter's.

That said... my company has built a lot of the motors for BAF. We have several of them hanging in our facility too, of course. The Element (way too big for a typical residence) moves a LOT of air without moving quickly (82 RPM top speed). The one we know as Isis (or "little ass fan") is similar, but weighs a lot less.

BAF has some neat product (I know of Haiku, but it's not got our motor), and their new lights are amazing.

Do they still make them with an actual oil cup that you filled with a provided tube of oil after hanging?

Yes. They're [still] called Hunter Originals.

I also like Casablanca. One 30 years old and the other thirty five.

I don’t think Hunters are as good as they used to be. I bought 4 3 years ago and two of them quit working. Hopefully the replacement pieces they sent me will help, but I have never had a problem with Hampton Bay fans. Of course, that could have changed by now.

Get over it!!

I have 5 hunter fans and two Hampton bays,

The Hunter are much better built fans.

Hunter service is great. I dropped one during install and damaged it. I explained what happened and it was my fault. They sent all new parts for free.

Just a warning the new hunter wifi accessory is junk.

I tried to install it on one fan and went through 3 units that failed within a week.

Not ready for prime time.

I converted the fan to TP-link at the wall switch instead.

The fans are working great.

I put up a new Hunter in the bedroom this morning. It's Chinese-made, and I'm not thrilled with that. But having run for a whopping eight hours, it appears trouble-free so far.

God bless America.

I needed that in my Gazebo! I bought one that had a pretty high CFM rating and an outdoor damp location rating but yet you can hardly feel it.

Knew this thread was out here - thanks again to the karmanator search tool!

Any other suggestions besides the Minka for a really quiet fan? Need to replace the one in our bedroom, it's getting a little more wonkawonkawonka in it than I want. Not loud, but I hear it.....

Also are all Minka's the same design, or do I need to be focused on a particular feature/design for silence?

We installed Hampton Bay (Home Depot) 20 yrs ago and have had no issues. In summer, SWMBO runs them 24/7.
