Still finding my way

I had a family reunion in New Hampshire last weekend but spent most of the time out on the Maine coast seeing the sights, eating the lobstah, and enjoying the friendly locals. This was my first time in New England so I was pretty struck by the beauty and wanted to share some of it with my buddies here. Smile

This was in a little cove just outside of Portsmouth.

Nubble Lighthouse.

The lobstah rolls were aces.

My bride and I on one of the few sandy beaches.

Very cool. We've spent a week out there the last two summers - my (now) 6 year old does a one week camp inland. Portland is a nice town, and the sea coast is beautiful. Best lobster roll I ever had is Eventide in Portland. The worst lobster roll I've found in Maine is still much better than anything I can find in Colorado.

Glad you enjoyed. It is a great place to live. Great people, no income tax, no sales tax, constitutional carry. Hopefully the influx of Massholes fleeing that dumpster fire won’t ruin it.

Did you make it to the Pro Shop or the Kittery Trading Post gun room?

It's funny, I live here (Southern ME coast) and often forget to slow down and admire the views.

Thank you for sharing these.

I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

Both are beautiful states. Have vacationed in NH for most of my life. Lakes region is really nice, as are the Mountains. Look to do more there, specifically tour the upper half on motorcycle one day. Maine is nice too. Honeymoon along the coast some years ago. Also did a week windjammer cruise out of Camden. I loved it, but it was a bit primitive according to my wife.

My wife and I have visited 44 states. We need to see the 6 New England states to check all 50 off our bucket list. We need to decide when and how to do this.

Summer, fall, couple it with a Princess Cruise? We will probably head that way next year.

Mike

lived in NH for 24 years, the last 5 were personally untenable due to the massive influx of Massholes and New Yorkers

the major reason I left

its still a great place to visit as long as you don't have to deal with the arrogant pricks who think they're better than anyone else

Ouch!! I'm a NY'er and feel the same when the folks from Ohio invade our lake every summer.

I want out, but being a plumber here 50 years makes it awful rough until I retire.

PLEASE don't group us all together, as I am a freedom fighter like most on this forum, just stuck in the wrong place for a bit more Frown

What boat were you on? My son was crew on the Mary Day out of Camden one summer.

First pic looks like it could be Perkins Cove.

The second pic is Nubble Light.

Both locations are in southern Maine - not far from Portsmouth, NH.

Beautiful areas.

Fall. Definitely fall.

New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine are absolutely stunning in fall, and the weather is ideal.

Plus, if you go in September/October, in addition to enjoying the foliage, you can stop at some of the little apple orchards and enjoy freshly picked ripe apples, fresh apple cider, and cider donuts.

When I was a kid in the 60's, we went to a small place called Goose Rocks Beach, just north of Kennebunkport.
Beautiful and quiet area. Very cold water to swim in unless you were from Canada.

Wreck

not trying to disparage all, but when I saw a NY plate I just hoped they were passing through and not staying

my neighborhood had an influx of New Yorkers and they were uniformly libtards who tried to take over the HOA and impose their 'riles' on us

I think if you're a New Yorker and a conservative you should get a special license plate so we can tell the good guys from the assholes

I too was up there the first two weeks in August, had a blast. We spent ten days at a pal's oceanfront "cottage" near Rockport, then four days in Bar Harbor.

Had REAL fried clams, chow-dah, lob-stah, and lob-stah rolls. I lived near Boston as a kid and got addicted to genuine big belly fried clams, can't get them around here.

I always had a misconception about Maine, then I started dating a girl who grew up there. I pictured a gloomy place and unfriendly people. She scheduled a trip there without my pre-approval in October five years ago. I couldn't have more wrong. What an absolutely beautiful state, with equally beautiful people who respect and appreciate what the have. All year long, I can't wait for our annual trips to Boothbay in October.
