trapper189Anyone Else Feel Guilty Spending Money?
It's funny seeing this thread again and my post at the top of the page 3 from last year.
Then it was a watch. Today it's a guitar. Not even for me, but for my daughter. It's giving me a headache just thinking about it.

If it's my money, and I can afford it, why should I feel guilty?
If I borrow to spend unnecessarily, then I'm an irresponsible jerk.

Those of us with wives don't have that problem... they spend it for us!
Unless you have the kind of wife who feels like the OP! Mrs. A. keeps a pretty tight leash on both the dog and her husband.
Personally, after a lifetime of saving and in a financial place where I don't really have to limit myself, I feel little guilt about spending money on the things I want, but that list keeps getting shorter and shorter as I age.

SIG228Not one bit. As long as the bills are paid and money is going into savings and investments, I have no problem buying the things I want. I work to live, not live to work.

Yep.
I spent a lifetime trying to save a quarter on a length of pipe, watching my spending. And now in my retirement years, it is a learning process to relax and smell the roses.

skallsI spend when i need too, but generally I follow my budget. I send as much money as I can each month to my brokerage account so I can retire a few years early.

I feel like I just fell for a phishing email. My company sends them out on occasion to test us. When we fail, we have to go through training. I've clicked the link a couple times.

ImabmwnutNone whatsoever. I watched my father fret over money(we weren’t poor). Once he bought a Browning BAR in 30.06 and a decent scope. He came home and went to bed. I asked him “why do you do this?”. Older brother is the same way. My folks were worth a little over a million when they died.My mother worked for Walmart in the early years and bought stock with her paychecks. I spend money and it don’t bother me. If the economy goes to shit ain’t none of us gonna have anything.
