Anything special for dinner New Year's Eve? Login/Join

So, anyone planning anything special for New Year's Eve dinner to ring in the New Year?

Is it a big bash, full on dinner? Or is it just finger foods?

What are your favorite New Year's Eve dinner foods?

How about New Year's Day? Is it Corned beef and cabbage, blackeyed peas and greens, or sausage, sauerkraut? Maybe a pork roast?

You have a big get together or just immediate family and maybe close friends?

Or is it something you could care less about?

I'm not really doing anything for New Year Eve, but I'm having a couple of friends over for New Year Day dinner, nothing fancy, just sausage and sauerkraut with mixed greens, hopping John's and cornbread.

Let's hear about your dinner plans for both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day!

Ha! I was thinking about starting a thread like this. Just got embroiled in other things, and didn't get a round tuit.

Mrs. V-Tail and I will do our usual quiet, stay at home, don't get out there and drive with the crazies, evening. We usually share a bottle of champagne along with a baguette and things like various cheese, maybe some paté, some herring, etc. -- the various "good luck" foods for the New Year.

For the New Year day meal, I'm going to do a traditional pork roast with sauerkraut, probably some mashed potatoes, and maybe some black-eye peas. We'll probably have left-overs for the next day or two.

Two granddaughters spending the night with us, one is 12, and the other is 3. However, we will not put them in the big black kettle.

My wife's parents said you had to eat pickled pigs feet to bring you luck in the new year. I'll continue to risk it.

Wife and I (and the little one) just got back from France so haven't made any plans yet for the 31st. Wife was supposed to work that evening, but now she's not so we're thinking steaks are in order. With an excellent bottle of red that we just brought back of course.

Dishwasher broke, not making anything special, maybe some steaks and prepared sides so I don't have to wash stuff.

When I had the tile laid without replacing kit cabinets it meant I had to tile in the dishwasher, now I can't remove it to repair it. So it looks like it will be time to replace counter tops too and add 1" of wood on top of them to bring the height back up to standard height. Likely get a new stove as well to match dishwasher since mine is circa 1964 and original to the house from the day it was built.

We'll have our annual seafood feast on NYE consisting of slipper lobster tails, deep fried prawns, king crab legs and cod fritters.

NYD it will corned beef brisket and sauerkraut with cornbread and boiled new potatoes.

Gonna be in Birmingham, AL for New Year's Eve. I'm going to take the crew out and treat them to dinner and drinks at the Mellow Mushroom Pizza restaurant. They've got REALLY good pizza along with a wonderful house salad.

Maybe French Onion soup or a quiche. Really, I have enough leftovers already. A friend from work, his wife passed away. Maybe I will visit with him. He likes to grill.

I'll be having my NYE dinner a few hours early – lunch at Kaiserhof, my favorite San Diego restaurant.

Last Sunday they had a special Christmas menu. I chose the Wild Boar Goulash – it was delicious! Hoping that it's on the menu tomorrow. But it's certain that I'll find some excellent offering.

Just got back from fishing. Brought home Dugeness crabs, ling cod, and various rock fish. This will be the eve before new years eve.

Even though Cali laws suck big time, the weather is good. This is the middle of the winter, and as we motored 20 miles up the coast in 60-65 degree weather and no wind or waves.
