I too always want to sit in the back where I can see everything and everyone. God Bless Smile

A very good friend is a FAM and the leadership has done all they could to drive good people away and keeping those who toe the line well.

Most of the SACs are SS laterals not organic to the FAM program.

Question, would you rather a FAM engaging someone from the front...or the back. The backstops are quite different, I would rather him sending that 125gr GD towards the rear of the plane...hitting a passenger by accident is better than hitting the pilot.

My opinion is that it would be best if they didn't tell everyone where the marshals were sitting.

Yup. Now, instead of knocking off everyone in the first few rows right off the bat, the terrorists will take out the last few rows of passengers. Eek

Marshals are only supposed to get involved in the direst of circumstances. They don't get involved with unruly or drunken passengers, or any other disturbances until the plane is threatened. That will be extremely difficult from the rear of the aircraft. The closer to the cockpit they are, the better the chances of handling emergencies.

Once again, TSA is exposing itself for the retards they are.

And what happens when that marshal, up front, engages some dirtbag and dirtbag's accomplice behind the marshal opens up? Marshal dead, dirt bags still in charge.

I've known some marshals. If you think they're not prepared for exactly this, you'd be mistaken.

I went through a refresher course with a couple of them. They were excellent shots and claim they fire several thousand rounds per year in numerous scenarios.

Right. I'm trying to figure out why the fuck this is news or being advertised.

Why not tell everyone how the cockpits are secured as well?

I like to sit around the middle or just behind the wing, now I'll be safer for sure!

I predict you will see a lot of transfers to other federal agencies.

I agree with this. There is already huge turnover in the FAMS, this will only accelerate it. Frankly, I am amazed at how quickly the head shed has forgotten how much they wanted more FAMS and then how hard it was to increase their numbers. I really wonder what the future will look like for them FAMS.

It is a pretty miserable job. I think there should be some randomness to the seat assignments and that they should also take in to account the agents physical size.

Last thing I want is a big marshall stiff from being cramped.

If the FAMs are stuck with the same stupid dress code; coat and tie, they will be really easy to spot in Economy Class.

I worked with a guy that was a FAM for a short period and quit because he hated it. They can’t listen to music, watch a movie, read anything, sleep, or anything other than just sit there and watch. That would suck.

Change with the crimes & change with the times. I agree they should change their attire, change location, change everything that could alert the bad guys of their presence. Why give them any advantage of knowledge?

They do not always sit in first class......especially on internationals, and I believe they are no longer made to wear blazers and I know they can grow facial hair.

If you saw my buddy you might mistake him for any average joe or dad flying.

And he can out shoot me on his bad day....by a fair margin.

Guard Duty does suck. But that's the job.

For the record, I would want them up front, as their primary mission is to secure/protect the flight-deck.
However, if they're supposed to watching passengers and take action before things get out-of-hand, it would make sense for one/two FAM to be amongst 'the rest of the passengers' in coach.
