A very good friend is a FAM and the leadership has done all they could to drive good people away and keeping those who toe the line well. Most of the SACs are SS laterals not organic to the FAM program. Question, would you rather a FAM engaging someone from the front...or the back. The backstops are quite different, I would rather him sending that 125gr GD towards the rear of the plane...hitting a passenger by accident is better than hitting the pilot. | |||

I've known some marshals. If you think they're not prepared for exactly this, you'd be mistaken. I went through a refresher course with a couple of them. I agree with this. There is already huge turnover in the FAMS, this will only accelerate it. Frankly, I am amazed at how quickly the head shed has forgotten how much they wanted more FAMS and then how hard it was to increase their numbers. It is a pretty miserable job. I think there should be some randomness to the seat assignments and that they should also take in to account the agents physical size. Last thing I want is a big marshall stiff from being cramped. | |||

I worked with a guy that was a FAM for a short period and quit because he hated it. They can’t listen to music, watch a movie, read anything, sleep, or anything other than just sit there and watch. That would suck. NRA Benefactor Life Member | |||

They do not always sit in first class......especially on internationals, and I believe they are no longer made to wear blazers and I know they can grow facial hair. If you saw my buddy you might mistake him for any average joe or dad flying. And he can out shoot me on his bad day....by a fair margin. | |||

For the record, I would want them up front, as their primary mission is to secure/protect the flight-deck. However, if they're supposed to watching passengers and take action before things get out-of-hand, it would make sense for one/two FAM to be amongst 'the rest of the passengers' in coach. | |||
