What an amazing event for you and your wife, but also for your new son.

Adoption is a beautiful thing and I wish you all health and happiness.

Our official languages are English and Maltese.
We'll start with English (he was already exposed to it, in fact is already understanding a huge amount and has started using words in the proper context). Then, we'll introduce Maltese which is important for everyday life.

My generation has excellent Italian - probably because we only had Italian TV growing up. Younger generations had cable TV, so their Italian is hopeless. At home we still watch a fair amount of Italian TV, so he'll pick some up, plus what he'll learn at school, but he won't be anywhere near as fluent as we are.

So, time for an update I guess - sorry for the silence, but the past 6 months have been the busiest and hardest of my life :-) Also very amusing (at times) and rewarding.

Peter settled in very well. He's an alert, bright little fellow who picked up English very quickly and now doesn't know how to keep quiet! Last week he started summer school, which gives us a few hours of peace every day, and we are slowly getting our lives back into a semblance of order.

We had some issues when he was being particularly disagreeable (favourite word being "NO") and when he reverted from being potty trained to weeing and crapping in his pants (with an accompanying "daddy, I pooped my pants"), but that seems to be over.

Had him christened back in May (we're catholics), but I wanted my money back (figuratively) because it didn't do anything to improve his behaviour :-)

He's a typical boy - inquisitive, accident-prone and quite rebellious...which leads to the odd swat on his bottom - seems to be the only thing which gets through to his hard head! He's also loving and very sweet. A hit with everybody who meets him (for a limited period of time...)

Already gun mad, helps me pack my reloaded rounds into the trays and is addicted to watching my IPSC (USPSA) shooting vids...dunno how I'll be able to keep him away from the range for much longer!

He'll be 4 on the 20th of July, and we are looking forward to seeing him, and helping him grow....
