I'm planning a two or three night trip to Nashville the week of July 1...mid-week. Any recommendations where to stay to be mostly within walking distance to the whole music scene? Is that even possible? I've never been there.

Any thoughts and other recommendations are welcome!

There is no way to be in walking distance of the entire city. You've got downtown, music row, the Opry house, the Bluebird Cafe, and they're all in different areas. Plus there's live music pretty much anywhere there's a bar or restaurant.

There are lots of places to stay downtown, but they're not cheap. Same with the Gaylord Opryland. Pretty much anything walking distance of anything interesting is going to be expensive. If you want to pay for it, the Omni downtown is good, as is the Hutton.

For a good place that's somewhat inexpensive, Hotel Preston near the airport is neat. It's not walking distance of anything except a Mercedes dealership.

Lots of great hotels downtown. None are cheap. You best be making reservations soon. Most book up.

This is really nice and not the most expensive:

Hotel Indigo

Looks like they have rooms that week.

Marriott Union Station, cool place and reasonably close to downtown and Country Music Hall of Fame.

I stay in Nashville every other month or so because of travel out of BNA. Around the airport, there is a ton of lodging. Everything from the Hotel Preston (I thoroughly enjoyed staying there) to a cheap Super 8 up Donelson Pike.

Unless you just wanted the experience of a higher end hotel, I would just Priceline the level of hotel that you want (2-5 stars) and Uber to your destination if you are planning on drinking while you are out. It has been my experience, however, that if you aren't drinking and want to drive, that parking downtown Nashville isn't as bad as a lot of other major metro areas.

Union station is nice. Nashville is a great Uber town. Staying downtown is expensive. I usually stay on the outskirts and use Uber.

I don't have a lodging recommendation, but I know if I ever get back to visit Nashville again I want to eat at this place:

Also, I don't know how it is these days, but when I was there before it was well worth it to take one of those bus tours.

We were just there and stayed at Lowe's across from Vanderbuilt University. Nice hotel and Uber/lyft everywhere. Greenbrier distillery was worth the trip. Ryman was nice, the rest was a disappointment because of the amount of people.

We went there for the RMEF annual meeting, in 2017. We stayed at the Omni, and I highly recommend it. It is pricey, but it was extremely nice, and was within walking distance to the entire downtown area. Also made the drive to Lynchburg, and that was also very much worth it!

Thanks for the suggestions, folks! After doing a little research, I decided to stay here: http://renaissance-hotels.marr...ance-nashville-hotel Looks to be a convenient location, near some of your recommendations.

Not sure how much driving I'll do, but expect my mornings and early afternoons to be sightseeing and tours, while afternoons/evenings will be watching/listening to music. And cats. Wink

Looking forward to a few very nice meals too.

Any other recommendations are welcome!

That is a great location. It's been a long time since We stayed there, but it was a wonderful hotel at the time.

Many great places to eat. This has always been one of my favorites:
