Adopted mixed breed ... SUGAR because she's all white. Mama said I shouldn't name a dog "Sugar", but there she is. MASON because his breeder's last name is Mason.

We named out shepherd “Rock” cause my kid threw a rock and the dog got it and bring it back to him.

The lab mix is named Apollo. He came that way and I liked it so I didn't change it.

The shithead hound dog is named Argos after Odysseus' hound from the Odyssey, since both Apollo and my names are Greek in origin. He also answers to "Shithead".

I wanted to name our goldendoodle ‘Bill’ after a guy at work who probably wasn’t as smart as the puppy. Wife said no. Just then we passed a Papa Murphy pizza joint. He immediately became ‘Murphy’.

I’m currently between hosting sites, so I can’t provide a pic of the pup.

I have an Irishdoodle (she looks more like a goldendoodle) named Theodora Roosevelt. We call her Thea for short.

She was named after the 26th President of the United States, well, because he was a badass and I was reading his Autobiography when we got her.

Jessee, as in "Jes' see the mess I made!"

We had a Lab that as a pup loved to chew toilet paper. Until she trained us not to leave her chewing paper on the toilet paper holder, the bathroom would look like a winter wonderland of white, snowy paper. The first time it happened Mrs. 'Hook walked into the bathroom and exclaimed "Oh my gawd, little dog. Just see the mess you made!"

She's been gone for over 20 years, but we still really miss her.

We rescued these two from a kill shelter a few years ago. I’m a bit of a car nut; named them Aston and Martin. They are black golden retrievers.

We adopted Relic when he was 3mo old. He was a breeder return because of medical issues and the original buyer wanted to use him as a stud. He is an AKC registered Akita and his papered name is Raki Inu Katami. Roughly translated it means Lucky Dog Keepsake. Instead of Keepsake, he became Relic.

My cat is Socks, because her back legs are white from the toes to about halfway up. Looks like socks. I'm not always real imaginative with pet names.

No pictures. Mama was a long legged rat terrier. Papa was a beagle . Along her right side she had 4 small black spots that looked like 4 oreo cookies layed out. Wife came up with "cookie" but my choice as "harley" because the spots reminded of the oil spots on the concrete under some older harley motorcycles. I won in more ways than being my shadow since 2007. ................. drill sgt.

Lots of dogs but a couple that hold a special place:

Gatorbait (or Gator) was a mutt puppy that I got when I was stationed at Charleston. Coworker brought in a box of puppies and (one assumes humorously) stated that any that weren't gone by the end of the day would be used to troll for gators in the Cooper River.

My last dog was Grumpy. Another mutt I got as a pup. Drove 70-odd miles to pick her up and she sat in my lap and mumbled and grumped all the way home.

I named my Puggle Bandit because she had the black mask and when she was only a few months old she would steal my stuff and hide it around the house.

My GSD is named Hannibal. He had several different owners. I saw his add online and went to see him. I was looking for a dog with some drive to train. he was 8 mos old and he sat there calmly wagging his tail. I bent down to pet him and he jumped up and bit me on my face and then jumped again trying for my ear. I reacted by saying "Damn, that is some Hannibal Lecter shit right there."

The owner apologized and got me a bandage for my chin. The pup was sitting there in a playfull pose looking rather proud. Then he attacked my shoe laces. I decided that he chose me and I paid for him and took him home. He has been my best friend for the last 6 years.

The day I brought him home.

We named our Australian Shepherd "Millie".
If we had known what a force of nature she was going to be we would have named her "Taz" instead...

In her pup days. She is 8 now.

Our cat's name is Ava, and we didn't name her, the vet's office did. She was a stray who wandered up to the vet's office and lived there for about a year. When our old beloved cat Chester died, we waited a while and the wife wanted another cat. I was reluctant because losing Chester just hurt too much, but now, almost 10 years later, I'm so glad my wife made this happen. Ava is sleeping not six feet from me right now, curled in a tight little black ball. I've got plenty fo pics of Ava, but they're all cellphone snapshots, nothing special.

This is Chester on a Sunday afternoon, now long gone.
