Otis Higgs is our black lab. Kids liked Otis and I wanted to name him after the Higgs-Boson particle which in the year we got him, it's existence was confirmed.
Our Beagle is Fletcher, after the great Chevy Chase movie: Fletch.

My cat is named Clare, after the memory care unit my MIL died in. Someone thought a cat would be helpful to the residents. It was not. Her nurse and the director asked us to take her, because any time I sat there, she jumped up in my lap.

We took her, but at my age, I don't think I'll get another pet. When they die I'm crushed, and it wouldn't be fair to the animal if I went first.
