I'm sorry to hear this. I think he's the one adding a lot of credibility to the bureau.

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Deputy Director Dan Bongino has resigned.

“I will be leaving my position with the FBI in January,” Bongino wrote in an X post on Dec. 17.

“I want to thank President [Donald] Trump, [Attorney General Pam] Bondi, and [FBI] Director [Kash] Patel for the opportunity to serve with purpose. Most importantly, I want to thank you, my fellow Americans, for the privilege to serve you. God bless America, and all those who defend Her.”

Bongino did admit the corruption and deep state shit in the FBI was way deeper than he imagined. I don't know if he quit out of disgust, or just felt he could do more for MAGA going back to his show, who knows.

I heard rumors of dissatisfaction with his performance a couple months ago, but was hoping it was just Democrat subversion. I still hope there was nothing to it, he seemed to be doing a great job as far as I'm concerned.

I'm sorry to see him go, but cannot blame him.

His salary was $4.9 million in 2024, and his 2025 salary was $221K. The man is likely working 2x harder for 90% less.

Just saw this. My hope is that he wants to return to his family and feels like he put the FBI in a good position.

I thought about his health was a possibility ahead of maybe he wants to make more money for his family.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." The FBI cannot be saved.

Bongino thought he could fix it.

He couldn't.

It needs to be disbanded.

Sadly I think you’re probably the most accurate.

Being the deputy director of the FBI, his time was more occupied with endless planning meetings, budgetary fights and crafting all manor of operational/administrative work. It's an executive position not an operational position and while Bongino I'm sure went into the job with a lot of enthusiasm, the reality is it's a roll geared for beurocratic knife-fights and political wrangling. I don't doubt that the 'deep state' subversives that exist were likely shocking or, daunting and I'm sure he's got a list of who are the problems internally but, I'm gonna guess much of the work did not suit him and his expertise.

Sad news and without knowing his reasons for stepping down one thing is for certain you can't make positive change if your home sitting on your couch and change takes time especially when you're dealing with corruption at the FBI that has been entrenched for decades.

I am sure we will hear the real reason in the near future, when he returns as a private citizen.

Disband, create a new agency, and require everyone submit for rehiring.

Better yet make the AG an independently elected position. Asking bureaucrats to investigate corruption seems idiotic

I'm pleased to read so much support for Bongino, I do find his departure extremely distressing.

And this.
Those two are closely related.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

It's definitely a catch 22 in my eyes...I really missed his show when he left for the FBI, but know he was answering POTUS' call for service and felt he had the strongest background to fill the role asked of him. Now, a lot of what he spoke of previously has come to light, and I'm looking forward to hearing his voice back on the show.

With the kind of money he has pulled down he should be able to just retire early... he's 51 IIRC.
Hell I would.
