I like this ... the 6x10 size would work. I can figure out a way to tie it.

Just tie it low for when the wind blows the rain sideways. Clean up with a long-handled shovel.

Of course if Murphy has his way the dog will turn out to be claustrophobic as well...

Two of my four Greyhounds are so delicate they'd melt in the rain and they almost always wait it out. I've actually thought of building a carport type deal because it's a pain sometimes. It would save me from shoveling for them in the winter too.

Heck of a problem when the dog's needs -must- be met. I've shoveled paths for my various dogs over 4 decades of New England winters. For the smallest dog, a 25 pound rescue, I repurposed a outside retractable fabric window shade next to the rear garage door. I ran the open/close cords through the dog-door so I could actuate it without me getting weathered.
It was to be temporary... 12 years later the people who bought the house asked if I'd leave it in place.

My 6 year old Shorthaired Pointer hates to go potty in the rain.

Throw his hunting gear on though and he's a beast in any weather. Context I guess...

Good luck with your cover idea.

My badass pit pull hates to go out in the rain to pee. When it's raining at bedtime I often have to go out there myself and coax him out from under the patio roof. Sometimes he just says F**K THAT and goes right there on the patio.

We don't get a lot of really nasty weather here, but I remember one time before my GSD passed away, we had an ice storm and I wound up with about a third of an inch of ice on top of snow. Sadie had to go in the worst way but when she stepped off of the patio onto the ice she started slipping around like you see in a cartoon. She made her way back onto the patio and wouldn't venture out again, just stood there whining. I had to go put on my boots and stomp a clear path for her out to the fence so she could take care of business.

I hear ya guys ... so much having badass dogs or dogs with a badass name.

Looked at all the ideas and narrowing it down to a sail cover, prefer to have a triangle rather than a rectangle as would be easier to install for us.
