The man who supplied the “Bottom to the Top” died in his sleep 7/28/21.

A friend of mine's nephew is Dusty Hill's replacement. Elwood Francis. A long time member of the crew that tuned the Guitars. Love me some ZZTop.

My first car had an 8 track, so I purchased Tres Amigos and Rio Grande Mud on 8 track. That was 1975!

the chemistry between the three of them in their music was just so natural. Nothing against Elwood Francis, I enjoyed seeing him as part of the group 2 years ago. Peace Dusty Hill

I saw them 52 years ago in Williamsport PA. Got the crowd rocking. I defy anyone to not tap their feet and smile when hearing the first few bars of La Grange.

The Lovely Girlfriend got us tickets to see ZZ Top just a year or so before Dusty's death. It was a great evening, for sure.

I saw ZZ T in Portland some 45+ years ago. Immsmr Iron maiden then the scorpions then ZZ top. I might be mixing up some shows. But they were absolutely awesome, I do remember that. The keyboards in the back half of the car was very cool. A show I will never forget.

Helluva a guitar show. Two weeks before I moved west. I was there:

I am a long time fan, saw ZZ 10 times since 1975 and if all goes well, will see them next month. One of my top 100 rock bands. Too bad about Dusty but at my age I have seen a lot of the greats that are gone now.

Authentic. That's what they were. I'd heard about them before fame from some Texas boys who raved about the picnic/outdoor concerts they were doing down in Texas. When the first record came out, the boys proudly played that stuff over and over, explaining to us ignorant yankees what some of the lyrics really meant.

The story I found most interesting was in 1984 when Dustys girlfriend was pulling off his boot, his derringer dischaged and shot him in the stomach. The story became more worth telling when he fully recovered, although it was a serious shot given (I believe) that he had a .45 cal bullet whack his stomach from mere feet away.

Just the idea of some crusty but famous texan rolling in public with a boot gun showed this wasn't some fake musician wanna be. The real deal, who happened to play bass.
