This was just posted on Next Door with a fundraiser. Grown ass people…I would die of shame...

“I was recently laid off and I’m unable to celebrate my birthday this year. It’s coming up in a few weeks and I really want to escape reality and enjoy my time before I have to return back to my life that’s full of bills and misery.”

Two-college town. Constant begging.

People are also writing their cash app on their rear windows these days begging for money. No shame at all.

I’m seeing those digital panhandling sob sorry stories all over next door recently. Some replies are brutal. One got called out by another local for the questionable details. I just delete

It’s all over the place

I’m amazed.

We have perps with a long rap sheet parents begging for hand outs for legal fees in New Orleans. Rediculous. Your F’n kid beat a 70 yr old lady inches from her death on multiple cameras and they think the kid is innocent. Some have raised $200k. Pisses me off

I'm on NextDoor. I see someone every month with a GoFundMe to get help for his rent money.

On the other hand, I have read some sad GoFundMe stories that ring true like someone who's been working but got disabled.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Fuck 'em all. Even my wife (who generally considers me a heartless bastard on this topic) has adopted that outlook.

Standing on a corner with a sign when there are literally a dozen help-wanted signs within a couple of minutes walking distance.

Unreal. We haven’t gotten past the fake “oh my gosh this awful thing happened to my friend and I’ve set up a gofundme, please support”. No one up north has had the brass to beg for bday money yet that I’ve seen.

This world has flipped on a switch that I just don’t recognize.

I saw that for the first time recently as well.

We were driving on the interstate and a car passed us with a sign posted in the rear window saying something like "We're on a cross country road trip! Help us on our way!" followed by some cash app code.

I'm so old that I remember when begging was considered shameful.

Same here. Recently, we were leaving our favorite coffee shop. At the corner is a guy with a sign "Hungry. Please Help". He's standing within view of three places with help wanted signs. I told the wife "I guess he's not that hungry".

Where do you get those vinyl stickers for the rear window?

How long does it take to get them?

My birthday is coming up soon.
