Zero tolerance for pineapple on pizza...anchovies YES!!!...BJ's Pizza And Subs on St. George Island, FL use the best anchovies I have ever tasted on their "house special" pizza...I don't think they even offer pineapple (or blue tailed skink for that matter) on their menu (now I want to drive 475 miles for a pizza and a week on St. George Big Grin).

Ham and pineapple is amateurish Hawaiian pizza. Spam and canned pineapple chunks in heavy syrup is the definitive version. And none of them that Spam light or turkey Spam.

they, and their brown scaly cousins, are quite prevalent here,

they like to invade the garage and eat bugs, so I leave them be,

besides, If they made it actually into the house, if the wife's screaming doesn't scare them off, the cats will get them

Yes, but only if accompanied by Canadian Bacon.

Otherwise, that's simply barbaric.

The perfect “Hawaiian”? BBQ sauce with bacon and pineapple. The only way to fly.

Red sauce is for bacon and mushrooms.

White sauce is also for bacon and mushrooms.

You have now been educated.

Tell me about these super special anchovies.

When I was working in Barcelona, there was a little hole-in-the-wall bar just down the hill from the condo that SWMBO and I rented. They would cut off about a 20 cm length of bread (Spanish bread is metric, as we all know) from a loaf. The Spanish bread was pretty much like the French baguette. Slice it lengthwise, rub it with fresh garlic, drizzle a little olive oil on it, then apply a layer of anchovies. A plate of olives on the side and a glass of Rioja drawn from the cask behind the bar. Mmmmm . . .

Right next door was another little hole-in-the-wall place that did a few deep fried things. Xurros, and the best potato chips I have ever had.

Thinking about it, it's almost worth a trip back there just to eat some of this stuff again. Of course I went from 170 lbs to 195, in a year and a half.

I don't know if it is that the anchovies at the pizza places around here in Cleveland TN suck so badly (as in squeezed out of a tube) but those anchovies at BJ's on St. George remind me of the anchovies my late wife and I ordered at our our local pizza place, RJ's Pizza in mableton, GA, back when when we were kids (yeah, the names are close...I know)...they aren't too salty, too bony or strong...much like the difference between a cheap can of sardines (with a lighthouse on the can) and a good can of bristling sardines with a King on the label (both are little fish...but one is so much better little fish than the other)...

Those were the days Smile
