Anyone use it? How has it been working out? Do you use the free version or the fee version? I have one buddy who thinks it’s the greatest thing going and is hounding me to sign up.

It's not my favorite way to meet chicks, but it does work pretty well. I've met a few weirdos and girls that I just had no chemistry with, but overall it's been positive. I've met some really fun girls that I wouldn't have otherwise met, and even had one long term relationship that was pretty serious that I thought might end up permanent. It can also be a great way to find a tour guide when you're travelling. If anything the one thing that bothers me the most is that you meet so many interesting women it can be hard to narrow it down and get serious with one if that's what your looking for.

It can be kind of location dependent though. In my smaller town there isn't much activity, but when I go to a bigger city the matches are infinite. Don't be stupid and fall for the occasional scammer and at it's worst it's a time waster. At best you might find someone you really like.

I've only used the free versions of Bumble and Tinder, the benefits of the paid versions never really appealed to me given their cost.

"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Thanks. Doesn’t appear to have a downside.

I didn't see one. I never even filled out a bio and I still got plenty of matches. Just be mindful that there are a few scammers and a few girls that treat it like a meal ticket and act accordingly and you will be ok. You can keep your communications to the app only until you get a feel for the lady in question so they don't have your personal info if they are on the crazy side, and you can always delete your profile and the app if it just isn't working out.

I’ve tried most of them over the past year.

Hands down I’ve had the best success on Match.

It can be used to set guys up on "dates" for a robbery.

Now, usually those arent dates as much as meets for anonymous sex or prostitution... so use your head.

If you talk to someone, get to know them a bit and meet in public places. If it is too good to be true, it usually is.

Rightoe Kevin, Yea there could easily be a "downside" just as there could be an upside. Thinking otherwise could be well, risky to say the least.

I could tell ya a couple funny work.stories about such incidents.... some of them were amazingly stupid.

Wandering down the street in 32 degree temps and an inch of snow wearing flip flops and a thin bedsheet after being relieved of your car, wallet and phone [and your dope) makes for a crappy friday night.

I gave a dude a ride home 35 miles after a very similar incident.
I felt bad for the dude and no dope was involved he was just a fella trying to get some tail at 10am.

Seen it a few times, some innocent fools who used the wrong brain, some more nefarious.

That said, post divorce I used it and went on some dates before I met my current GF (we didn't meet on there).

Use your head and it will be fine.

I’m asking because around here online dating seems to be the norm - not the exception.

Thanks for the warnings, Kevin. All I can say is St Louis must be a rough town.

Never used that site and probably never will.
I'll admit that about 3 years ago I used a dating site (Match). I had 3 dates and they were all train wrecks.

My own personal reasons for not using online dating.

> You never know what kind of crazy she'll turn out to be.

>My ex cheated on me using the internet. (See above)

No internet dating for me. Meet girls the old fashioned way, lure them into a clapped out old white Dodge van with candy. (Not really)

If you put it that way there’s ALWAYS a downside to dating. The alternative is celibacy and I’m not ready for that. Eventually nature will take its course but why rush it.

Crazy is always out there. It’s unavoidable.

String of Chicago robberies targeting users of dating apps.

CHICAGO — Chicago police said Friday they are looking for a suspect or suspects using a dating app to lure victims to hotel rooms where they use a stun gun to rob them.

According to police, there have been at least five robberies in the downtown area that all follow the same pattern in which suspects arrange on the gay dating app Grindr or other dating sites to meet their victims. Then, once the men are in a hotel room, the suspect displays a stun gun and demands money and other valuables. In at least two of the incidents, the suspect used the stun gun after the victims refused to hand over their property. In other instances, the victims turned over their property after the suspect threatened to use the stun gun.

Police said the robberies have occurred between Dec. 22 and Tuesday night of this week.

Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said Grindr is cooperating with the investigation and “we have some good leads.” He said in the meantime, the police department is urging people who use dating sites to be cautious and, “When meeting for the first time, try to meet in public places.”

OF COURSE THIS IS FOR GINDR BUT SAME CAUTION APPLIES.

These apps are just as safe as other ways of dating you just have to have some common sense.

If your first date is in a hotel room the other person suggests maybe it's not going to be the hookup you think.

Meet someone for a drink or coffee first. Heck, you don't even have to give out your phone number for a date just us the app until you meet them and are comfortable.

Oh geez, ANOTHER dating app? I thought the market for these was already saturated.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.
