Okay, like the title says, I'm looking for recommendations for a good grease gun. Only stipulations being: Not battery powered Not pneumatic actuated Would like to keep it at $50 or less So, pretty much a lever or pistol-grip activation from the looks of it, and of the two, I'd prefer pistol grip so I wouldn't need both hands tied up with dispensing. I've gone through about 5 grease guns in the past...all El Cheapo brands. I'd maybe get one or two uses out of them, and then the next time I'd go to use it, I'd find it with a blown seal or something even though I didn't store it under pressure. I want one that will last. Something overbuilt for what it does. Something i can use 2 or 3 times per year for the rest of my life. A flex hose would be beneficial. Extension pipe would also be beneficial. The brain trust here is very knowledgeable, so I appreciate your time and thoughts. “I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I grabbed a pistol grip with flex hose from Tractor Supply several years ago that has served me well, I just checked and the one I got isn't listed on their website now so I'm no help at all! Sorry. Collecting dust.

I thought about trying one of these but they are a little pricy, anyone use one? http://a.co/73sk4OD Collecting dust.

Okay, that made me a chuckle. Fits my stipulations as well (except maybe the price). But, my intentions are to dispense grease, not lead. “I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.”

I saw that one when I was doing some browsing a couple days ago. I'll put that on my short list. Thanks! “I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.”

I have the Lincoln. It works fine. I think I bought it at Oreilly Auto Parts.

I second the Lincoln Jimmy recommends. Have one and it works like you'd want it to. Good choice.

The ones NAPA sells work well, and appear to be well made. They are about $20-$25. -c1steve

Lincoln is the way to go, manual or pneumatic.

Define "last." I bought one from auto zone in 2001 specifically for urethane bushing grease (white and really stickier). The grease gun has lasted the tube of grease so far through ownership of a Durango and GTO - both of which had the bushings replaced. Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. Something that will work when I need it to work. Something that won’t have a blown seal, or cracked pot metal casting, or some 28 gauge steel that gets bent when loading a grease tube. Something reliable for years to come. About 12 zerks I can think of immediately off the top of my head that will be greased at least once a year. “I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I used a $40 NAPA gun for about eight years. Used about 2 tubes of grease a week, or about 50 a year keeping the semi truck lubed. It probably handled about 400 tubes of grease before it got real sloppy. Lincoln. Ask Napa, maybe theirs are made by Lincoln.

I've got an old Lincoln that predates all the modern made in China crap. If I had to replace it, well that would suck.

I have three or four Lincoln's hanging in the barn and am pretty darn sure I never paid more than thirty bucks for any of them. They work well but do not last for ever. .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.

I have the NAPA branded pistol grip one and am very happy with it. I was going to buy the Lincoln, but had to do a job RIGHT NOW and the NAPA was all that was available. It has been fine. ETA: It doesn't leak. I have used it and did't need a shower with lava soap afterwards. This message has been edited. Your experience is strange to me as I've never encountered a bad grease gun. I get mine from the local farm and fleet supply stores. I'm a fan of the pistol grip types. I always get two hoses and couple them together (1/4" coupler I think). You can lay on your back, snake your arm up into some tight spot and leave the gun on your chest. Are you positive your guns aren't getting air locked? Use the follower to apply pressure to the grease column while pumping till you get a good solid stream again. I got curious, mines a Lincoln too. Maybe I get good ones without really trying. ----------The weather is here I wish you were beautiful----------

In a manual gun, you want a pistol-grip type, not a side handle. The side-handles need three hands to use.
