I found it, your pic does it better justice. Is it suitable for Urban CC if i got the tickle to tote it under my shirt ? Or does it ride too low for that use ? Some field holsters work for that and some don't if the barrel is not too long. Is there a slight forward rake or does it ride perfectly vertical ? With a 4 in barrel GP do you think it would work for that purpose ? Lover of the US Constitution Wile E. Coyote School of DIY Disaster

Your hankerin for a SA is well founded. I had a Ruger SA in 357 stainless. It could be my favorite gun of all time. I carried in in a leather Bianchi belt vertical with a strap snap over the hammer. The SA is not the same, it's a completely different gun in feel and balance. By nature it's a natural pointer, an extension of your arm, and by design it's super accurate with the swing arm replaced with a single through pin. I know you know this, but all these elements put together make it very special for some shooters. I lost it in a burglary a long time ago, it was true love majik and I still miss it bad after all the years. Since you said you didn't understand why you needed one, ask anyone else who loves SA sixguns and they'll tell you the same. I used to take it fishing with snake shot, destroyed bowling pins at 50 yards, defended myself in the woods surrounded by packing dogs, wore it hunting, and punched a lot of holes in paper with many handloads. I've got exactly two Revolvers and I 'just plain loves'em. Here's my 4" Ruger GP100 in Stainless... And it's lesser known 'Royal Phoenix' brethren! ____________________________________________________________ If Some is Good, and More is Better.....then Too Much, is Just Enough !! I had a health scare about 5 years ago and decided to sell the 25 most unused guns in my collection. I regret selling two of them with one of them being a 627-0. Best trigger of any gun I’ve ever owned.

Revolvers? Favor them quite a lot, actually.... "And gentlemen in England now abed, shall think themselves accursed they were not here, and hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks that fought with us upon Saint Crispin's Day"

Timely thread. I have a safe full of carry guns and have been carrying the Smith 340SC for the last several months. It’s a comforting old friend. I decided to spoil myself with a new j frame and purchased the new 442 Ultimate carry revolver. Tonight, on my way out the door, heading to a restaurant for dinner, I did something I have never done. I strapped on TWO j-frames (New York reload). I had a grin and laughed at myself but said, “Why not”. And to be honest, carrying two j-frames is so easy you forget they are there. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

Hey Otto, how’s that bisley compared to the regular? And Wright, I had a 357 ew vaquero and loved it but sold it because I was a dummy. I might get another ruger in 44 “You may beat me, but you will never win.” sigmonkey-2020 “ in my opinion, anything that we can do to trigger a potential aneurysm in a leftist is a good thing and worth doing” nhtagmember 2025

Count me in too! My first was a S&W Model 19 Combat Magnum purchased new in the mid 1970s. I now have several more Smith's, the latest being the Lipsey's Exclusive S&W 396 Night Guard. I am patiently awaiting a holster from Barranti Leather.

OttoSig, what scope are you showing in your first pic of the Ruger? I’m desperately trying to find a replacement scope for my pistol but they seemed to have disappeared. I’ve grown up using revolvers. Very first gun I plunked down money on was a S&W model 28. Soon joined by 44mags, several 38spls and more 357s. Mike, I prefer Bisley grips over the standard plow handle, X3R or whatever they call it. It’s a very subjective thing of course, but especially for larger magnum calibers I much prefer the Bisley grip. I also like the Bisley hammer contour over the standard. Cee_Kamp has posted how he doesn’t like the Bisley as much as I believe he said the Hunter grip frame. If you haven’t shot a Bisley I’d go handle one for sure. Mitch, I can’t stand the scope lol. Found it on eBay, it’s a Nikon Pistol scope, 2x. I’ve removed it since the photos. Shoot me an email if you can view my profile. I can help you find one, most a commanding a premium since Leupold stopped making their line and Nikon stopped making scopes. Nine years to retirement! Just waiting!

Dad was a Ruger revolver man and it rubbed off on me. When the GP100 came out he bought a 6”stainless one and we shot the crap out of it. I thought that was a beautiful and massive gun that was built like a tank. My first handgun was an exact copy of that gun. It’s my screen name. He also had a Ruger single six 22 magnum/LR convertible. Needless to say we shot that one a lot too. I’ve got a lot of revolvers. Mostly Ruger. A bunch of 357s, a decent amount of 44 mags, a few 44 spcls, a 454 super Redhawk, a hand full Of 38 snubbies, and some 22s. An even mix of DA and SAs. Lately I’ve been watching a lot of the Pearce Brothers on YouTube and that has got me really stirred up on wheelguns. I’m sourcing some warm 44special loads to be my new woods gun. Either my 4” or 5.5” Redhawk or my 4 5/6” Blackhawk Bisley 44 spcl. There’s just something about a revolver and a lever gun in the woods that feels right. Especially if they shoot the same round. This message has been edited. Last edited by: ruger357, ----------------------------------------- Roll Tide!
