Pipe SmokerAn excellent new-to-me cereal
The new cereal is Mulberry Lane Farms Rolled Rye Flakes:
www.amazon.com/dp/B088DJ9T6V/r..._api_i_gJHjFbNFY46RMFiber is an important dietary component, and I strive to get plenty of it. I also have to watch my weight closely, so I’m always on the lookout for foods that are:
#1 – tasty
#2 – have a high fiber to calorie ratio
For long, the only cereal that I’ve eaten has been unsweetened oats. Mostly Quaker Old Fashion Rolled Oats. The way that I eat it is uncommon – dry. I toss a pinch into my mouth and chew. I’ve never seen any report of anyone else that eats it that way, but it tastes best to me that way. Has a nutty flavor that I don’t sense in porridge. Negligible prep and cleanup time too.
Compared to rolled oats, the rolled rye, eaten my way, is crisper, and is even tastier, although perhaps that’s just a variety-is-welcome effect. And, according to package nutrition info, they also have a greater fiber to calorie ratio:
Quaker Old Fashion Rolled Oats
26.67 gFiber/Kcal
Mulberry Lane Farms Rolled Rye
40.00 gFiber/Kcal
A bit pricey, but I like and recommend them.

If you "dip" your rolled oats, do you dip your coffee grounds as well??

Have to admit, that's a pretty efficient way to consume food.

BigCityPipe Smoker,
I have never thought to just dip oatmeal. I have put them uncooked into a slimfast shake though.

Very popular song in my youth.
Sorry. I'm just not going to eat any kind of cereal without milk.

LOL !!! I used to eat my oatmeal like that when I was in the army and we were out in the field. Whenever I had a package of oatmeal I would tear the top of the small package bag and pour a little into my mouth and chew on it dry for breakfast. I would then drink a little bit of water from my canteen to wash it down. God Bless !!!

We have eaten raw oats for years. Just a scoop or two. I love the taste and the texture. They help your system out in many ways.
