Im not sure about the "enlightened" part. I didn't see mention of changing how she votes or embracing the other school of thought.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani called Immigration and Customs Enforcement 'rotten to its core' as he demanded the agency leave the Big Apple amid massive protests after an agent shot a father in the car with his young child inside.

Hundreds of outraged residents flocked to the Marble Hill section of the Bronx, where Oscar Belgal, 28, was shot inside his gray Honda CRV earlier in the day, chanting 'Murderers!' 'F**k ICE' and 'ICE out of the Bronx.'

In one heated exchange, more than a dozen people were said to have grabbed and pinned a masked ICE agent against a wall when he got too close to the police tape lining the street, the New York Daily News reports.

'Take the mask off!' the residents screamed, before the agent was saved by NYPD officers, who swooped in and pulled him back behind the police tape.

Protesters were also seen apparently blocking Homeland Security agents from responding to the scene.

Officers were later seen trying to keep protesters at bay when agitators grabbed hold of one of the barriers and pushed back, causing a brief struggle.

At least one protester has since been arrested, according to the New York Post.

'This city wants ICE out,' the mayor declared as the protests raged. 'All they do is terrorize this city.'

DHS officials have said agents were 'conducting a targeted enforcement operation' targeting a Dominican man with a prior criminal conviction for grand larceny and multiple other arrests for assault, robbery, possession of drugs and weapons possession when the shooting occurred.

The undocumented man is also said to have connections with the Trinitarios gang, the same gang that was responsible for the killing of a Customs and Border Patrol officer last year, and federal agents were said to be investigating whether Belgal had ties to the migrant moped gang shooting.

He then allegedly tried to 'ram his vehicle' into the officer who fired on Thursday, two law enforcement officials told NBC New York.

'This criminal illegal alien was arrested by the NYPD on December 7, 2023, but was released into the community a few days later by reckless Democrat sanctuary policies that put American lives at risk,' the DHS said in a statement on social media.

'When dangerous illegal aliens are released back onto the streets by radical sanctuary politicians, our officers are forced to make arrests at large in the community in unpredictable and dangerous environments,' it continued.

'Our officers should not have to risk their lives, and innocent Americans should not have to face unnecessary danger, because sanctuary politicians refuse to cooperate with federal law enforcement.'

Tisch has since said Belgal had two previous arrests in New York City, one for robbery in 2023, a case in which he pleaded guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny and received five years probation, and one for criminal sale of a controlled substance in 2025, which is still pending.

I vote accordingly. I vote for the politician who pledges to fix these problems from inside the government which happens to be the only way these problems begin to get solved. It's all I can do I am not inside the government I have no levers to pull except my vote. The politicians I vote for especially in my state elections never win.

I do not consider writing strongly worded letters to Walz, Ellison, Klobuchar or Flannagan to be anything but an exercise in frustration and to perhaps result in landing me on a targeted list of some sort. We have millions of laws in this country. The application of them is quite selective.

Perhaps. One does empathize. However, it seems that her change of heart comes only after personal tragedy. Where was she when others had already experienced similar tragedies? If she ignored them, then her change of heart is not sufficient.

Leftists zeroed in on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers Saturday, boxing them into a parking lot in Salem, Oregon.

The officers were conducting targeted enforcement operations in the area when the incident happened near a Walgreens in the lot on Lancaster Drive, the Post Millennial’s Katie Daviscourt reported.

“Anti-ICE ‘rapid response’ networks mobilized to disrupt operations. Some of them brought weapons and used violence against officers, prompting the deployment of crowd control munitions, including tear gas and pepper balls, according to bystander video,” she wrote.

One video showed a person dressed in dark clothing smack a black SUV’s side mirror with a baseball bat. “Get the fuck out of Salem!” another person was heard yelling at the officers.
