Software developers and the deli owner instigated the whole thing? SMDH
quote:
A group of men enjoying lunch at a Minneapolis deli were bullied by a surging mob who mistook them for Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, video shows.
Five software engineers had been dining at Clancy's Deli when anti-ICE protesters gathered outside the restaurant's front windows and shouted obscenities at them.
'Get out of our f***ing neighborhood,' one protester was heard yelling in a clip obtained by Alpha News. Another shouted: 'If you're not with us, you're against us.'
One demonstrator even went as far as calling them pedophiles and another screamed 'I hope you die,' the news outlet reported.
A victim, known as Lee, claimed the mob's ringleader said the group, who are not affiliated with ICE, deserved to be harassed because they were 'white privileged males.'
He has alleged that the restaurant owner was responsible for the chaos by falsely claiming the group of software engineers were federal agents.
'You don't tell extremists that random customers are ICE agents. That's how people get hurt,' Lee said, adding how one of his friends feared they would be shot.
Lee added that the mob's vile attack has changed the way some of his friend group feels about the Trump administration's immigration crackdown.

Typical Shitty job of reporting. Which way did the change go? More or less pro-crackdown? The writer leaves it as an ominous statement, not factual.

At this point I don't believe Trump is going to put a stop to this. He should have triggered the order of dispersal by now in order to then invoke the insurrection act. More rioters are coming into Minnesota. They are becoming more aggressive by the day. ICE agent or agents are going to get killed. Then it's too late.
Walz and Frey are doing nothing to quell any of this. Mpls. police officers are taking advantage of the paid family leave act to stay out of the entire mess and go on extended leave. Not that they are allowed to do anything anyhow. If Trump should decide to act the longer he waits the uglier it's going to be.
These fools are now disrupting church services, harassing random groups of people and individuals under the guise they might be ICE. Trump is no longer showing restraint he is showing weakness.

So we just allow all this to continue to escalate unchecked while political games are being played out. Good plan.

I think that's the perfect plan - the idiots in the metro (as well as duluth and rochester) elected Frey and Walz and consistently vote for these far LEFT (corrected) politicians - they can suffer through this. This will hopefully finish what the floyd riots started.
I've avoided minneapolis/st. paul like the plague they are since 2020.This message has been edited. Last edited by: sreding,

Really disgusting what is happening in MN. They have easily surpassed CA, NY, etc. as the most fucked up state in the country today.

They already had a good State Bird: The Common Loon.
Very fitting.

I secretly bought lunch for a team of ICE agents a few years ago.
Felt good. Don't miss the chance if you get one.

I visit the Air Force Museum in Dayton Once every year or two. I stop somewhere to get a bite to eat and twice I bought dinner for servicemen. I drove trucks all my life, hauled Hazmat so I got stopped frequently for inspections. After the inspection I would give the Ohio State Trooper a gift card to a restaurant. I got to know a couple on a first name basis. Always made me feel good.

There’s a pile of garbage on one of the social media sites that openly threatened ICE agents. Hopefully he’s being investigated now.

And the local libs are going ballistic over this. Two batallions from the 11th Airborne Division based here at Ft. Richardson in Alaska are n standby for deployment to Minnesota. Makes sense, they've already been issued cold weather gear.
Just hilarious to hear some of the local libs and politicians talk about how Alaskan troops shouldn't be used. What? Alaska troops? It's not the National Guard, it's active duty US Army.
Army puts 1,500 Alaska soldiers on standby for possible Minnesota deployment, AP sources say
By Konstantin Toropin Published: Jan. 18, 2026 at 11:40 AM AKST WASHINGTON (AP) — The Pentagon has ordered about 1,500 active-duty soldiers to be ready in case of a possible deployment to Minnesota, where federal authorities have been conducting a massive immigration enforcement operation, two defense officials said Sunday.
The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive military plans, said two infantry battalions of the Army’s 11th Airborne Division have been given prepare-to-deploy orders. The unit is based in Alaska and specializes in operating in arctic conditions.
One defense official said the troops are standing by to deploy to Minnesota should President Donald Trump invoke the Insurrection Act, a rarely-used 19th century law that would allow him to employ active duty troops as law enforcement.
The move comes just days after Trump threatened to do just that to quell protests against his administration’s immigration crackdown.
In an emailed statement, Pentagon chief spokesman Sean Parnell did not deny the orders were issued and said the military “is always prepared to execute the orders of the Commander-in-Chief if called upon.”
ABC News was the first to report the development.
On Thursday, Trump said in a social media post that he would invoke the 1807 law “if the corrupt politicians of Minnesota don’t obey the law and stop the professional agitators and insurrectionists from attacking the Patriots of I.C.E., who are only trying to do their job.”
He appeared to walk back the threat a day later, telling reporters at the White House that there wasn’t a reason to use it “right now.”
“If I needed it, I’d use it,” Trump said. “It’s very powerful.”
Trump has repeatedly threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act throughout both of his terms. In 2020 he also threatened to use it to quell protests after George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police, and in recent months he threatened to use it for immigration protests.
The law was most recently invoked by President George H.W. Bush in 1992 to end unrest in Los Angeles after the acquittal of four white police officers in the beating of Rodney King.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, a Democrat and frequent target of Trump, has urged the president to refrain from sending in more troops.
“I’m making a direct appeal to the President: Let’s turn the temperature down. Stop this campaign of retribution. This is not who we are,” Walz said last week on social media.
